What's everyone got planned?

I have a 12 year old and looking for some inspiration! Done lots in Edinburgh and Glasgow before so hoping for some new ideas. Daughter is really keen to go to Blackpool but looking for something a bit nicer but with plenty to do!

Liverpool is great for a city break. We generally ended up in the Lake District for Easter as the boys enjoyed outdoor stuff. Aviemore always good for that type of thing too, with a day out at landmark and a trip to Inverness thrown in.

I wondered if Dundee might be an interesting place to go. Not sure what the V&A museum is like for kids. I thought it might be an easy place to walk everywhere.

YourLoudLilacGuide · 06/03/2024 08:04

The v&a is nice but small. Maybe only a half day visit unlike the v&a in London.

If she’s desperate to go it might be worth a visit.

We stayed at Ribby Hall (which was lovely and had some great activities) and travelled through for the day. It was an eye opener but the kids enjoyed themselves.

Lytham st Anne’s is reasonably nearby also and has beautiful beaches.

We go to Aviemore for easter, have done for years. Love it for just chilling out and theres enough to keep DD15 and my Nephew 3 entertained. Also great for Dog friendly places, which i know isnt for everyone

I have been wondering what to do as well. Have the first week off work but prices are insane everywhere so considering staying home and doing day trips.

Dundee is a good shout though, there's v&a, camperdown, the discovery, the science museum, shopping, swimming, beach at brought ferry. Could definitely fill a few fun days.

We're heading to London in the first week of the holidays. Love it-there's just so much to do.

Groovee · 06/03/2024 14:07

Heading away over the Easter weekend.

When we went to Blackpool we went to Ribby Hall.

ismu · 06/03/2024 14:08

London is great at Easter and the weather is so much warmer than anywhere in Scotland in April!

Escapetothesun · 06/03/2024 21:33

I can't think of anything worse than going to London!

Aviemore - yes!!

ShesGotAHeartOfGold · 06/03/2024 21:48

I am keen to take the kids to London but worried that Easter hols would be insanely busy. Can't do crowds!

pharmachameleon · 07/03/2024 08:02

@ShesGotAHeartOfGold we've been to London the previous two Easters and the very touristy places are busy but we like to go to more unusual non-touristy places and these are fine. There's just so much to do in London you'll never get bored!

ShesGotAHeartOfGold · 07/03/2024 09:28

So true. And at least one day would be a trek out to the HP studios if we got tickets.

Where do you stay in London? I've 3 children aged 8 and under so need a family apartment or similar kind or room.

Onemorefortheroad · 07/03/2024 15:50

Thanks for all the responses, it's great to hear what others do and is lots of food for thought!

We had started planning London, found a perfect air b&b but the realised the trains back on the Friday are a nightmare as there must be works I presume!

Have been to spa at Ribby which looks fab and it looked like a nice place for kids.

I looked at going to York but accommodation was SO EXPENSIVE. We're going to Northumberland.
