Would you go on holiday during the Easter break before Highers?

DD is in s5, sitting highers in May. She will have to work hard to pass them. For various complicated reasons, we don't get away on holiday much, and I think we could scrape 5 days in the sun during the second week of the Easter hols. Would this be sheer madness?!

We did. Our youngest is very motivated and had consistently kept up to date with work and didn't leave studying to the "last minute" a kid who has worked hard all year will benefit from some relaxation and sun.
Ps our daughter got 5A's and unconditionals to St Andrews, Glasgow and Edi despite the 2 week holiday in Bahamas.

Go and enjoy

Thank you all. Dd is not motivated and is not a 5 As student! Different kettle of fish altogether. I think she will need to be dragged to the school study sessions. Safer to stay put, I will just have to pray for some Scottish sun!

But not all DC are like yours obviously, so that’s not very helpful. There’s no way I would do this. A holiday just isn’t that important.

We're going in October! I feel much better...she still may not pass, but at least I'll know I haven't jeopardised it!

We had a 3 times covid delayed 4 day extended family holiday that was meaningful to my parents (big anniversary) the Easter before GCSEs.. Was in England though. Dd1 was quite stressed about it took all her books and we set her up with a desk - she basically revised the whole time joining us for meals. No way would we have chosen to have gone abroad for a random holiday at that time and I don’t know anyone that would either.
