Are there any engineering (electronics, optics, signal processing, control, etc.) companies/jobs in D&G?

We are in Dumfries and Galloway (D&G). DS in last year of uni doing electronics engineering. After 4 years in a big city he’s decided he wants to be back in D&G. He’s been looking for work in D&G in electronics and is struggling. He’s found a lot of companies up near Glasgow, Edinburgh and Stirling, but struggling for nearer home. I’ve also had a look and I can’t see anything either (although not my area of expertise so not 100% sure I’ve looked in the right places). He’s not fussed on the industry, he just wants a job to get started, so open to all and any suggestions.

You’ll be lucky OP, D&G had nothing unless you want to work in agriculture, retail, hospitality or healthcare that’s about it outside of trades. Main reason the young folk take off to the cities and usually don’t return. D&G will one day just be a huge retirement complex (I say this as a community HCP and seeing the massive issues we are having with care etc)

What about something like Scottish Power and the windfarms? They mst be employing people to work on those in D&G. Or sideways move into something like construction management?
