XL bully dogs and Scotland

Another blinder by our "wonderful" government. I was not aware that the ban on these awful chav beast dogs only applied in England and Wales. No legislation to ban/restrict them in Scotland.

Some dim woman who runs a "bullie rescue" says she has been "inundated". Isn't that just marvellous.

The Scots taking in XL Bullies as England cracks down

Five-month-old Buddy has just arrived after his owner in Liverpool decided to give him up.

Homeless Daniel with his chavbeast. What an asset to Scotland.

At the end of the day he is simply taking advantage of a situation that scotgov have created. I'd imagine there might be other takers from Scotland if the situation was reversed.

CoatOfArms · 31/12/2023 14:15

I'm sure there would be. It's almost as if the border between England and Scotland has very little meaning in reality.

Yeah, who knew?

This:

You yes yet? 🙄😡

Look at the chains ( likely a prong collar) around that XL’s neck
this shows the owner has ZERO control.
Who pays for it’s vet’s fees?
likely a charity does!

When it attacks a passerby’s sweet pet , will he ( the homeless owner)be insured ?
Of course not.

Scotland is taking the worst of England and Wales’s XL Bullies - the ones with grossly irresponsible owners.

Look at the illegally cropped ears- Rogue vets in U.K.?
Some look very poorly amputated so maybe done illegally here by unqualified people when they are puppies.

Absolute dregs of people to do this or to buy a dog with amputated ears.

Just seen on FB the mobilisation of army's of Scottish folk seeking out and arranging delivery of XL's to Scotland.

Rehoming them for a fee and people here getting a cut price murder mutt with who knows what background as no-one bothering to ask. It's like a ticking bomb indeed.

SomeCatFromJapan · 31/12/2023 18:25

Happy Hogmanay! Here's your dram, a wee square of tablet and an inbred frankenbully on a choke chain to see the new year in.

oakleaffy · 31/12/2023 18:46

Chances are the XL’s being got rid of from England are going to be the worst behaved and ones with “Issues”.

NO ONE will be ridding themselves of a well mannered dog.

The better behaved ones with responsible owners will already be leash trained, muzzle trained and chipped - with a securely fenced garden.

All the “ Bawling” about muzzles- A muzzle is no big deal.

Ive had dogs who have worn the Baskerville type with zero fuss if fitted correctly.

Sighthounds often use Muzzles when Chasing or Lure coursing to prevent damage to a fellow sighthound ( they have very fine skin)
Very few seem to notice they have one on if well fitted.
Other dogs use them
because they scavenge poo and other undesirable things.

BigBoysDontCry · 31/12/2023 22:13

Ffs!

Or alternatively they could just comply with the law?

Pay £2000+ more a year in tax and have to dodge the neds with these devil dugs (because decent people don’t have these dogs) but hey, you get checks notes free prescriptions and a cardboard box for your baby to sleep in. Just don’t leave the baby in the cardboard box next to your xl bully or you’ll be on prescription antidepressants (free!) for the rest of your life

My goodness...Talk about insane ''impulse'' purchase of a dog.

that is genuinely irresponsible and insane.

IF they were serious about taking on a known dangerous , strong type of dog, they'd have gone through a bona fide rescue in Scotland.

They haven't a clue and clearly aren't dog owners, or would have all the stuff from prior dogs that have owned.

The rescues {responsible ones} are adamant the person wanting to adopt a 'rescue' dog is used to big dogs specifically of 'Bull' breeds.

I can see that there will be a rash of attacks in the next few weeks from these 'adopted on whim' XL Bullies.

Just clicked on that photo and seen what group that's been posted on. Great another local Ned strolling about my local area with one of them

BigBoysDontCry · 01/01/2024 10:22

It looks like the post was deleted and clearly they did not want to be identified either.

ValerieMoore · 02/01/2024 14:45

Scotland will probably ban them at some point. I noticed during the pandemic they did everything England did but just waited a few weeks before doing it. I can’t agree completely with the it’s the owner not the breed argument. I’ve never interacted with one of these dogs but if I can compare them to Staffordshire terriers they’re not very intelligent which is why I believe they attack people for no reason.

SirChenjins · 02/01/2024 14:54

I’m on a lot of Facebook groups for various dog related things and the number that are looking for food, bedding etc for the bullies they’re bringing up here, or front room rescues looking for money, or trainers offering training for bullies is horrendous - I’m having to sit on my hands and not type what I want to. They are all contributing to a time bomb and just don’t see it.

ValerieMoore · 02/01/2024 15:11

@SirChenjins yeah definitely especially with the dogs being traumatised from being abandoned. How many do you estimate have moved up to Scotland ? Hundreds/ thousands ?

SirChenjins · 02/01/2024 15:24

I wouldn’t like to hazard a guess, it’s too horrible to imagine. Won’t be too long before we all start coming across them and their feckless ‘rescuers’ on our dog walks sadly.

SomeCatFromJapan · 02/01/2024 15:33

We passed an XL Bully this morning. Never seen one round my estate before.

BigBoysDontCry · 02/01/2024 22:18

And another... 😡

SirChenjins · 02/01/2024 22:23

I bet the residents of Macduff are just thrilled. FFS.

ArabellaScott · 02/01/2024 22:32

Aye, but nobody's going to say anything publically, are they, for fear of some Extreme Bully Fan setting their lovably Furbaby on you.

BigBoysDontCry · 02/01/2024 22:36

So I can't be accused of fiddling while Rome burns, I've sent an email to all my msps asking if they can do something about it.

oakleaffy · 03/01/2024 16:32

Exporting maulers to other Countries- Scotland sadly soon may well see the results of these imports.
Probably the more responsible owner will have registered and muzzled their dog- The feckless who can’t be arsed just ships their dog to Scotland- very likely poorly socialised and untrained- certainly unloved, as who would dream of getting rid of a dog they were in a good partnership with?
None.
