Hello All! We recently relocated to Aberdeen and when trying to get the place for the kids in school received an offer to proceed with Gilcomstoun Primary. I’ve looked up the reviews and all I could find were quite bad :( also the school does look very old judging from the pictures of the inside. Also is that the case that most of the subjects are taught in Gaelic? Could anyone please provide some feedback on it? We’ve moved from abroad so I of course would like my kids first school experience to be positive here in the UK… appreciate any feedback and comments, thank you so much!

Gilcomstoun is a Victorian building so yes it is old. The school houses the Gaelic Medium Unit where children are educated in Gaelic but that is separate from the main school.

I think the Headteacher has recently changed and I would imagine things will improve as a result of that.

The school is terrible. There is some bullying teachers do not care kids do not learn about anything all there is is just some crafts and sports. There is no real education. In p3 kids are doing mud hotels outside for bugs. Literally coming back home every wednesday looking like homeless. Terrible school headteacher does not give a f if you say anything. I had to speak to the councillor. Even the school doors that are heavy it is little kids that are expected to hold because teachers do not care if kids struggle.

My son is p2, and he absolutely loves it. The teachers he's had have been great. My son loves learning and this is encouraged by the staff we have encountered.

We've had zero issues with the staff, curriculum etc
