Relocating to Maybole or Dalmellington

We're currently thinking of moving, we need a 3 bed bungalow so everything on one level and have seen a few in Maybole and Dalmellington. Can anyone advise what these areas are like? We're used to village life where you can take country walks directly from your door, but still close enough to civilisation for doctors and such. Any advice would be appreciated.

Both are old mining towns. Of the two I would say Maybole would be a better place to live but it depends what you want. Maybole is a lot less isolated, has a train station and regular bus service. It is also only 15 minutes by car from Ayr.

Dalmellington on the other hand is in the middle of nowhere, pretty isolated with not great public transport. If you drive then you should be OK but I wouldn't want to live there without a car. On the other hand if it is countryside you want it is in the middle of nowhere but the countryside around it is mostly pretty bleak moorland.
