Aviemore Santa Express

Has anyone on here done this?

My children are upper primary school and one is a non-believer now. Just wondering if this is a nice event to go to.

It would probably mean an overnight stay in Aviemore as it’s a bit of a distance from us.

I've been on the one in Bo'ness when DC were toddlers and it was fun, not sure if the Aviemore one is similar but I don't think it's worth going there just for that with older children.

Having said that, as part of a trip to Aviemore to do other stuff as well, it might be a nice addition.

Did the Santa train at Aviemore about 20 years ago and it was magical - I loved it. DD was under 5 though and still a believer.

Have also done the Santa train at Brechin but didnt like that as much.

Thanks! I think we might give it a miss. Sounds like something we should probably have done years ago. Ah well!

I thought it was lovely but we did nearly get caught in snow on the drive home which was a bit too exciting !

When dd was a bit older she enjoyed the Victorian Christmas experience type thing at a NTS property

I thought the Aviemore one wasn’t running this year. We’ve just been on the Brechin Polar Express train and really enjoyed it. There were plenty of older kids too having fun.

Depends what you are looking for. I've done a few of these (but not this one at Christmas). They are lovely but don't last long.

Last year we did Blair Drummond which I thought was good value in that it's a full day and suits a mix of ages. Not quite so Christmassy but good when it got dark for toasting marshmallows having already enjoyed a nice day out.
