Building warrant / Load bearing wall

Hi all
Has anyone needed the service of a structural engineer in Scotland recently to apply for a building warrant to remove a load bearing wall?

The wall is only about 8ft long and I’ve already paid an architect for the drawings but now I’m told I need a report from a structural engineer to submit with the drawings.

The first ones I spoke to want over £800 to produce the report.

Does that sound right?

Unfortunately it does sound about right-I was £750 just under 2 years ago. It’s brutal

Yes. Total rip off. Architect was reasonably priced.

We got two quotes last week for the same thing via architect - one was £450 + VAT, the other was £650 + VAT. So not a million miles away but probably worth getting at least one other quote?

It’s on the high side of normal, worthwhile getting some other quotes.

Thanks so much for the replies. I spoke to architect again and she said was as expected but maybe worth getting a second quote.

It’s so bloody expensive getting anything done 🙁
