Why can't we keep Scottish oil?

I'll start off by saying I am against Scottish independence on economic grounds. Voted no in 2014 and haven't changed my mind. However I was out with a friend at the weekend who is for Scottish independence and I didn't really have the answers to the discussions we had.
We were talking specifically about oil (we did have fun really-this was the only serious topic we discussed!) He said in 2014 one of the big arguments from the unionist side was 'THERE IS NO OIL LEFT' however now with the new oil contact granted in Rosebank this argument has been disproved.
Can I play devil's advocate and ask why can't Scotland keep the revenues from oil drilled off Scottish waters? I realise these waters are UK waters however why can't they be Scottish? Ignoring the net zero targets of course!
I realise this question makes me sound like an idiot so I'd never ask it in real life-only on anonymous Mumsnet! Can anyone help me understand?

Although I didn't vote blue (and definitely not yellow) they still retained the seat in my area.

Looks like oil and gas is going to stay UK for a good while longer thankfully and the "clear mandate" for SNP and independence has been well and truly kicked into the grass in this election!

Scotland is a very wealthy nation and without Scottish oil revenue, the English Pound Sterling will likely fall to less than $1 USD

Because they bang on about independence and use it as an excuse for their failures on devolved issues.
Education standards have gone down the pan (the stats show this), NHS Scotland has got worse (they are in charge of this), ferries are a expensive disaster leaving communities cut off and they try to force central belt and city policies on rural areas which are set up very differently (including our power/heating systems in Winter storms!) Their financial ability is lower then primary school levels and they try to hide things.

They spent years being pretty smug and saying but the Tories turns out they were pretty corrupt also with ongoing police investigations into finances and a campervan!
They shouted from the roof tops that changes in PM should call an election as not voted in then do exactly the same thing and go very quiet on it.

Covid was a nightmare and again scaremongering from them including Humza who said attending a softplay risked children ending up in hospital....(which again was a complete lie)

Well, lets take a look as I've been following them in Scotland very closely;

The only reason there are any energy problems in Scotland is because of the Uk, this is why people in Scotland cant have their heating on while huge amounts of Scotland Energy is exported (free of charge) to England or sold on the World Energy Markets. Nothing to do with the SNP;

The British Government DOUBLED the United Kingdom Debts whilst forcing austerity on the people of the UK. Austerity is ideologically driven and there is no need for it. I am surprised you aren't attacking the British nationalists in England for what they've done. England 9and while its a part of it Scotland) are drowning in debt and you are paying the highest taxes since 1946!

The UK (Englands) debt is now 2.7 Trillion and rising.

I think the 'Campervan' investigation will be shown for what it most likely is; 'nonsense' so I am not worried about that. I think if I were a British/Scottish person I would wonder where all the Uk money has gone during Covid and Brexit.

If you live in Scotland then you will be fully aware of some of the absurb suggestions including cutting the bottoms of doors off in Schools.

I don't think a full blown police investigation and charges being brought is nonsense.
I suggest reading into ferry delays and the damage it is causing to Islanders and their local economy.

The Ferries? if you live on an Island, and you dont own a boat, then be prepared in the event of the ferries not running. (I had friends on Islay who did exactly that)

AFAIK Cal Mac operate an otherwise 'platinum' ferry service and have done for decades.

I think you just want to have a go. You might not even be Scottish. I know there is a mass migration from other parts of the Uk to Scotland right now, as so many people are escaping England and its collapsing services.

I doubt people are missing chemo treatments because of Cal-Mac, and my friends in Lewis have told me that unless you got by helicopter, you will be 12 hours being driven to a hospital if you have a heart attack (god forbid)
