Staying in Glasgow

We’re coming to Glasgow for a weekend soon- my first time. Would you recommend staying West End or Central? I am meeting friends at a restaurant in Kelvinhaugh which I know is west but I don’t mind a walk- which area would you say was nicest for getting a sense of the city and to go out in the evening for a couple of drinks?

Thanks

West End would be nicer

Agree West end is probably nicer. Kelvinhaugh is more Finnieston tho so you might want to be around that end of Byres Rd rather than Great Western Rd end.
Have stayed in the Argyll hotel on Sauchiehall street when dd was a student living in Finnieston

If you'd prefer around Great Western Rd can recommend the Ambassador hotel or tha Albion.

West End
Hotel Indigo is nice

Another vote for staying in the West End! I like a walk too, but the weather has really turned this last week and a trudge to a restaurant or back in it would be miserable.

We stayed at the Devoncove hotel in kelvinhaugh last week. It was amazing, super clean and great service with parking!
