Opinions on penicuik

Potentially relocating from Leeds to penicuik in a couple of months, carlops crescent precisely, I know the town centre is a bit run down, but in general what is it like safety wise, crime rate etc? I have young kids, we all have strong Yorkshire accents, and I'm worried about us fitting in to an already well established primarily council estate. Many thanks from a confused mama

I’ve got lots of friends in Penicuik and it’s ok, but I was surprised how terribly the high schools are ranked! Both are really bad.

Honestly, on this basis you might struggle. There are plenty of very, very lovely and welcoming people, but there are also quite a few who would take issue. Do you have other options?

I don’t agree with the terrible schools or issue with non Scottish accents. Our experience of secondary is very positive so far. Penicuik has a barracks attached to the town and there are many non local accents.
