Hi DD going into S6 and looking at taking 2 NPA qualifications, national progression award. Trying to help DD get most of out school, only sat and passed 1 higher in S5 and has some Nat 5 and Nat4. Anyone have any knowledge of NPA , what are they worth, good idea to do or try another higher/nat5. Looking at apprenticeship/college after school will NPA count towards entrance qualifications?

As far as I remember the NPA awards were also delivered at different levels right up to SCQF level 6 so their "value" towards entrance will differ. It is probably best to speak to the individual colleges/courses she is interested in to find out which NPA and levels are desired for either full time study or via apprenticeship programmes they deliver for employers.

ds's school used to give out glossy/quite thick brochures with various pathways for different topics similar to the flowcharts in this link that showed progression to further studying (I can't find anything more up to date) https://www.sqa.org.uk/sqa/files_ccc/GroupAwardSpecificationGL0643.pdf

The NPA seems to be a shorter module type courses and they can be worked through and build up in school then college (either FT or via an apprenticeship) to an NC, HNC, etc

Could you ask in the school if they have any booklets with pathways for the NPAs?

Thanks I'll ask the school if they have the booklets
