Selling my house and it’s taking forever … Advice needed

I’m near Stirling. My house went to closing date on 20th April and I accepted a decent offer from people needing to sell their house. I didn’t mind at the time as I hadn’t found the right property.

But I have now found where I want to move and all that side is agreed. The house is empty so I can move whenever.

My buyer has gone so slow and is having problems selling their property. A week ago they reduced their selling price but no one is interested.

We are now 10 weeks since my closing date and I just want to move but it all seems like it’ll never happen.

Has anyone here withdrawn from an agreed sale and found another buyer? Is that something I can do? No missives signed yet. Maybe I can go back to others that offered on my property?

At my wits end 😵‍💫

I've done that twice on the same house. First buyer was going slow but we were made aware he was looking at other houses so gave him a short deadline to sign or withdraw. 2nd buyer had made their offer on the basis that estate agent had said theirs would sell no bother, and it didn't. We gave them an ultimatum and then rejected their offer.

However this was over 20 years ago in a rising market and we sold for the 3rd time for higher than previous sales. I don't really know the current market well.

It's so frustrating and stressful!

Good luck.

Speak to your solicitor but yes you can, my friend had to do so in Torbex. She accepted an offer from a couple who hadn’t put their house on the market and then couldn’t find a buyer.

Thanks for the replies. Its all so frustrating.

I’ve had a chat with the estate agents now and they are happy to contact others who offered when it went to closing, and see if they are still looking.

🤞

A little update. I’m putting the house back on the market. The person who I had accepted the offer from was very understanding and said he’d continue to try to sell and was happy to stick to his price if I still wanted to sell to him (if no interest from others)

Here we go again .. I’d better go clean the house 😊
