Hi all! My partner and I along with our kids are relocating to Bleachfield Dundee hopefully just before or after Christmas this year. We have 2 daughters ages 9 and 2.5 with a new baby due in December and need some recommendations on good/nice daycares, nurseries and primary schools in the area. Also maybe some suggestions on where to meet other mums/dads as we are from Ireland but have been living with family in London for the last 3 years so will be completely new to the area! Any help would be greatly appreciated x

Also a good GP surgery recommendation would be great!

Hi, most people in Scotland go to their catchment area school/nursery. I am assuming you have looked around the area before you bought? Your catchment school would be Mill O Mains Primary School if non denominational and spaces are kept for those moving into the area, otherwise you would need to submit a placing request for an out of catchment and would be responsible for your own travel there and you would only get in if there is free space. I am not overly familiar with the area of Dundee you are moving to, hopefully someone else comes along who can tell you a bit more.

Hey yes we looked and actually spotted that primary as we went to view our house so will definitely be checking it out. Thanks for the info on how the catchment works much appreciated!

In Scotland the NHS GP practice is also based on where you live, sometimes there is more than one option though. I think practices using E-Consult are a benefit over having to hang on the phone for an appointment, should you have a choice.
That area is very near a Starbucks and a large Morrisons I have noticed when driving through on the A90.

Hiya, I was wondering if you ended up moving to Bleachfield? I have just moved to this area and I am thinking to relocate my kids to Mill o Mains Primary. Which school did you end up sending your kids too? x

Hey! Yes I did were here nearly 4 weeks now. We went with Mill of Mains for my 9 year old she started after Xmas break and loves it so far. Just got a nursery place at Jessie Porter for my 3 year old which is a 5 min drive away and she’s not starting until tomorrow but we took a tour of it yesterday and it looks really nice and staff seem really good too!
