She has been arrested. Wonder what is going to come out now about the SNP and their dodgy dealings!

OP posts:

Her husband was arrested then released without charge and bet it will be the same with her.

It's all rather curious though, isn't it?!

GulesMeansRed · 11/06/2023 15:07

Let's hope that even without a charge/conviction, her reputation and that of her party is now murky and tarnished enough for them to disappear quietly forever.

My main concerns are two-fold :

  1. that there are enough people out there who buy into the "it's all political" nonsense, and who won't ever believe that Nicola Sturgeon/the SNP aren't the best thing since sliced bread, whatever they do and however much they fuck up. The Braveheart Brigade.
  2. That this set of events clears the path for the even more odious Alec Salmond to creep his way back into office.
annabelindajane · 11/06/2023 15:09

can they question her on ruining the Scottish Economy and all their failed policies while she’s inside please .

AfricanGrey · 11/06/2023 15:09

GulesMeansRed · 11/06/2023 14:51

Maybe she'll get to share a holding cell with Isla Bryson. Isla being a proper woman, and all.

That would be perfect.

annabelindajane · 11/06/2023 15:10

It might actually bring her and her government’s total ineptness to the wider Uk public

Babdoc · 11/06/2023 15:12

Oh what a shame, how could they possibly suspect such a dear sweet person of anything underhand…. bwahahaha, no, can’t keep it up. (Rakes through wine fridge to find some champagne…)

Merrilydancing · 11/06/2023 15:13

I don’t think this one will blow over as there is no way the police would have arrested her unless they had some very compelling evidence.

GulesMeansRed · 11/06/2023 15:13

But again, @annabelindajane , the SNP gives not a single fuck what people think of them in England, Wales, N Ireland. They don't field candidates there, they want to separate us off from them.

Does grind my gears though when relatives down south say how marvellous Nicola Sturgeon is when they don't have to live with the consequences of her government.

Gymgoingfool · 11/06/2023 15:15

They will be very very close now, they won’t have pulled her if they weren’t, they’d be very sure before they did.

Bonbon21 · 11/06/2023 15:17

Well the polis have questioned all the bag carriers so maybe they finally have enough to charge SOMEBODY... ANYBODY...
Power corrupts.. but some were corrupt for longer than others..

From what I understand (although I'm not a lawyer so might be wrong) sometimes the police need to arrest someone in order to carry out searches, keep them in for questioning etc. but then they are building the case and don't have enough (yet) for charges and let them go while they are still investigating.

It doesn't mean they can't be rearrested and charged at a future date when they case has sufficient weight to it.

Seeingadistance · 11/06/2023 15:17

Have just heard the happy news!

GulesMeansRed · 11/06/2023 15:17

Chris Musson - who is usually spot on with SNP stuff - has said that according to the SNP spokesperson, Sturgeon attended the police station by agreement. Pre-arranged. Not lifted at 6am in her slippers and dressing gown.

Yes but that’s standard process. They will charge when they have all the evidence. So questioning under arrest is the correct way to do it. Releasing without charge doesn’t mean it’s gone away, it means they have completed their current questions, as part of the investigation, and will come back

if they declared no case to answer, no further investigation, etc then it would be relevant. But this is an investigation they are following the book on.

But again that’s normal. If she had not done they would have lifted her in her slippers.

Since Teflon Tony they're all untouchable. Not just in the UK but throughout Europe. Sarkozy was found guilty recently, nothing to see here. Berlusconi Ditto

Butchyrestingface · 11/06/2023 15:24

I like the fact that she knew she was about to get lifted, but was still all over Twitter yesterday giving it, "Never mind that, I got 56 out of 75 on my Hazard Perception test - UP YOURS POLICE SCOTLAND"

Sugarfree23 · 11/06/2023 15:24

Let the fun begin. And let's hope they actually press charges this time.

Police will look very silly after all this if they don't press charged for something.

Yes he can definitely be rearrested .

ThursdayFreedom · 11/06/2023 15:27

It's one way to spend your Sunday.

Cottagecheeseisnotcheese · 11/06/2023 15:33

the police will do the initial charging then the evidence report is sent to the procurator fiscal who decides whether the evidence is strong enough to formally prosecute

Georgiepud · 11/06/2023 15:36

Finally. No surprise there.
All going pear-shaped for the SNP's credibility.

Gymgoingfool · 11/06/2023 15:38

The charges for all they think they have a case will come later, that’s how investigations work, they are being released pending further investigations, not just released

so all of them are suspected of a crime and still are.

however as said though, they must be very close now if they’ve collared sturgeon. The evidence will habe been reviewed at a very high level in police Scotland and they will have very strong grounds to suspect she’s committed a crime.

ismu · 11/06/2023 15:41

The police will pass all the evidence to the procurator fiscal who will throw out a criminal case as this is all a party matter. It's a complaint brought by a vexatious and frankly batshit complainer who is unhappy that his personal donations to the SNP can't be directly traced to independence.
He will probably use all this evidence to bring an extremely lengthy and boring civil case which he will be lucky to get expenses for - if we could all trace our donations were only used for something we personally approve charity would collapse.
It's just a shame this is front page news rather than Boris but there you go.

fortnumsfinest · 11/06/2023 15:42

About time.
I'll preface this by saying I am in no way a Boris fan, as far from it as you could get, but the fact she thought she was superior to him still shocks me, they are both as bad as each other
