Anyone live in Pitlochry?

Evening ladies!

We’re moving back home to Scotland this summer after living abroad for a few years and are still deciding where to settle as we’re not tied by work and our family is spread out. We’re attracted to Pitlochry as the scenery is stunning and we’re big outdoor enthusiasts and want the kids to have a more active lifestyle.

Does anyone here live in Pitlochry and can give me an insight on how it is for young families? (We have two kids age 9 & 4)

Is there still a mostly older demographic there or is that changing? Is it too touristy? Is there much going on for kids and parents to do and meet people? And last but not least, how are the schools?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can answer my questions, it’s much appreciated! 🙏

We live about half an hour away but go there for fish and chips! It is extremely touristy to us. Full of bus tours. Some nice shops but a few outdoor shops like Blacks who seem to always have a closing down sale. It’s a bit like Aviemore with those. It’s a pretty town though. Sorry, I know that likely won’t help.

Did you move there OP?

It's definitely way too touristy for me to ever consider living there but I would consider Aberfeldy and a lot of the villages nearby.

Hi, im curious if you ended up choosing Pitlochry or not? We are also considering this move with a 6 and 10 year old!

My friends lived in Dunkeld and loved it but moved away to be closer to family, they are now planning to move back as they miss it so much.

Sorry wrong thread

No, we visited and it just felt too touristy and is too far from family and friends for us. Beautiful area though! I’ve heard Aberfeldy has a more community feel to it. We ended up in Dunblane which I can recommend (but difficult to find housing!)
