Glasgow City Centre Restaurants

DD's graduation is coming up. Our preference as a family would be to book somewhere like Buck's Bar... But, at least one of her aunties is coming along and I think we need to up our game slightly.

Anyone got recommendations for nice restaurants that aren't too "nice"/expensive? Def needs to be city centre and DD would prefer not Italian.

Browns in George Square was good when we booked as a large group.

My faves are the citizen, ancho line, topolabamba and mowgli

Anchor Line is lovely but can be pricey - but they do a set menu I think. We had a really bad experience with awful service at Topolabamba.

If the graduation is at the Caley, Ardnamurchan is nice and round the corner from teh concert hall where they do their graduations.

Mowgli is really nice. Also The Ivy and the Citizen.

I liked Topolabamba but think it might be slightly too casual for aunties(! they're not that old BTW - just seem to have "graduation meal" views)

hadn't really considered any of anchor line/citizen ones but having look again at citizen menu it might be an option (if i can persuade my DH he's not allowed the most expensive options on the menu...)

Panang, thai restaurant on St Vincent Street.

The Meat Bar is across the road from Buck's. It's cool and nice inside but may have the vibe you are looking for.

Red Onion, Ralph & Finns, Côte?

Piccolo Mondo on Argyle. St.

Ardnamurchan on Hope Street.

Fanny Trollope's in Finnieston.

The last two might be a bit too far away though.
