DS starts second year at Aberdeen in September. He's thinking of going into one if the Student Roosts, probably Pittodrie Street, or the Unite Students accommodation, possibly Peter Street.
Does anyone have any experience of them and prod and cons of that versus a flat?

My niece is just about to finish her second year in a Unite flat in Aberdeen

The advantage we found for her was set monthly cost covered everything except food so no worries about cost of living increases. The flats are nice. She's got a good sized room. Small double bed, desk, plenty storage. The living area depends on size but its a good communal space.

She likes the social aspect & there's a WhatsApp group for the block so if someone fancies going out there's always someone willing to go with them, might be someone you've never met but shes made so many new friends it's great if you're sociable. There's also a reception desk who take in all the parcels etc & you get notified on an app

Shes spent 2 years in Unite accommodation & it's been great for her.

What about Hunter accommodation? It’s on campus, has allocated car parking, bills included.

DS stayed in Trinity court for 2nd year and it was good. It was during lock down and he and his girlfriend booked into a 3 bed flat but the 3rd room was never occupied and was kept locked. The communal area wasn't huge but they had a washer/dryer and dishwasher and all bills included and decent wifi, parking and someone to take in parcels etc. They moved into a private rent after that but just with everything going on, they didn't feel quite ready to do all the life admin that required.

The only thing that wasn't great was that they were supposed to get some cleaning included for the common areas and that never happened ('cos covid).

My daughter is in student roost at pittodrie street and loves it. Plenty of on street parking too and walking distance everywhere.
