Anyone else watch the announcement of the new leader of the SNP and think that Ash looked like a stroppy child who hadn't won a race a sports day??

I saw it and thought she was very frosty to him, he got no hugs from Ash and he didn’t even attempt one, whilst Kate painted on a smile like a pro and had no choice but to hug him back hugged him. I don’t blame her though😆 it’s ok to look pissed off if you are, no need for award ceremony faux smiles 🤷‍♀️

Very true, she must be gutted so why not show it. Kate definitely had her game face on. I guess to me Kate came across as the more professional of the two.

She was always nothing more than a spoiler candidate, so I have a hard time believing she could be genuinely disappointed at the outcome when the 11% she polled is more or less bang on what the projections were throughout. Seems like she knows she has no chance of rehabilitating her standing within the SNP, so the sour face and lack of conviviality in the aftermath of the result just looks like bitterness and a lack of good grace.

Wouldn't be surprised if she bolts to Alba at some point, because I suspect her grip on her seat will be somewhat diminished by her conduct over the past while in any case. She's not particularly popular with the local branch any more and I could genuinely see her losing her constituency seat even if she remains in the SNP.

PacificallyRequested · 27/03/2023 17:45

She (or whoever does her social media) took ages to congratulate him on Twitter too.
The result cannot have come as a surprise to her!

Purplecatshopaholic · 27/03/2023 17:45

I thought she was extremely unprofessional - at least put your game face on! She’ll be off to Alba very quickly I think.

Whatthediddlyfeck · 27/03/2023 17:46

Yep I think she was a shoe-in as a thorn in the other candidates’ side.

I was quite heartened to see her not being a hypocrite in her reaction!

Hiddendoor · 27/03/2023 18:25

I read her reaction as two-fold. First, disappointment that she didn't get as many votes as she must have hoped for, and second that Humza is effectively the continuity candidate so if she was unhappy with Nicola then she would be unhappy with Humza too.

Thought Kate Forbes looked like she was hoping to keep a job tbh.

TheGaffer · 27/03/2023 18:55

I don’t really care much for her (or any of them) but I was impressed with her reaction…didn’t fake the gracious loser…I like her a lot better for that!

Aphrathestorm · 27/03/2023 20:59

I think it's a bit sexier to scold a woman for showing her emotions.

Do we really want more fake smiles from politicians?

stealtheatingtunnocks · 27/03/2023 23:54

Her face was less twisted than mine.

the snp will spilt and the 600k will never be found

Shelefttheweb · 29/03/2023 13:31

She wasn’t going to win but her objections at the start to Peter Murrel turned out to be well founded. The lies about the party numbers that only came out after many votes had been cast may have been enough to cost Kate a win.

I was impressed when she resigned over the GRC. Nobody else.did
So that means either Holyrood is stuffed with nonsense ideologies or with Sturgeon's lapdogs
