40th birthday ideas?

Hi,

I'm looking for recommendations for a destination hotel for my husband's 40th. Love the activities at Gleneagles but it's over £600 a night which I can't justify! We're in the north of Scotland so would rather have somewhere north of the central belt as we only have one night. On the trainline would be ideal too! Thanks

I like Kinloch Rannoch because it's close to a fairly easy munro.

Cromlix is amazing - well worth a visit! Just about to reopen after a refurb too!
