The wait for nursery funded hours allocation!

I was completely naive to this whole process! I just assumed you applied to a nursery you liked for whatever days you needed and paid for any extra you needed 😳 turns out only 1 out of 3 nurseries in my area operate like that and it’s worst of the 3 - of the other 2, one is council run so offers set patterns of days, and the other is only open 9-3.15 😬

My work has made it clear there is no flexibility in my set working days and due to a change in family circumstances the family childcare that we’ve been very fortunate to have until this stage worst be available come January. So I’m hoping for one very specific pattern 🤞🏼😬

Anyone else waiting?

Fingers crossed for you. I would say if you don't get the specific pattern you want immediately phone the nursery and see if they can accommodate it for you. I was allocated Mon to Weds this year when I had requested Tues-Fri and those were the days my child was already attending. When I spoke to her nursery they said the council had just randomly allocated everyone hours without talking to the setting so it was no issue to change. If they can't change the hours you are allocated straight away, they might be able to alter them later in the year.

@HappyPumpkin81 Yeah that’s definitely a good idea, thank you! My child is a January start and we should find out the placement by the end of April so at least I have some time to figure things out if we don’t get what we need 🤞🏼

I have a friend in a neighbouring area who finds out their allocation in June for an august start which doesn’t leave parents much time at all!!
