We are relocating to Scotland this summer and would love peoples’ views on Drummond High. Our children will be joining S5 and S4 (possibly S3 if we can negotiate this). Thank you!

I'd never even heard of it, not sure if that's a good or bad thing! Looking at the catchment area it's a very mixed area and I suspect a lot of folk in the "nicer" end of it send their kids to the private schools. It's quite far down the Scotland rankings and definitely not somewhere I hear about being targeting to live in the catchment area of. Are you looking at it because you'll be living in the catchment or because it's where there are places available?

Doesn’t it have a particular focus on learning support?

Yes I don't know anyone who goes there but it has a reputation for learning support (but again it depends what type of support you need), and definitely a catchment where its results will suffer from many going to Edin Academy etc.

Building looks nice enough from the outside - hopefully you're been round it @Lawrea

Thank you - yes, we’re moving into catchment (literally right in the edge!) and I’m aware that places are all at a premium so this is our most realistic choice!

That’s useful to know - thank you.

We are looking at quite significant support for youngest so this gives me hope. Husband and children looked round yesterday to get a feel but I had to return to England for work and missed the visit! So all comments are really helpful.

Are you on a position to visit the school? My DC is at a very low ranked Edinburgh school (am sure is below Drummond) and are doing very well academically, very happy there, so we haven’t found the ranking relevant to our experience.

My son goes to Drummond . Please look the school over first. Go during school hours. 🥺
