Hi. Has anyone been to the hydro this weekend (or recently)? What are the searches like?
I've got an autistic and he is getting himself into a spin about the idea of someone touching him for a search. I've no idea if they do a pat down so cant reassure him.

Yes they will do a pat down and check bags. Perhaps if you phone ahead they will be able to offer ways to make it easier for him, I found them helpful when I couldn’t handle the height

I went to the Paul Heaton gig (so recent). We were close to the from when they opened the doors so it was still quiet, women generally got their bags checked and the weird paddle thing waved over them, most men got patted down. It didn't feel intrusive and they were quick.

The staff were all really nice and friendly, and plenty of them, and I'm sure would be kind to your son if you explained. Do they have a lane for people with disabilities?

That was meant to say "I've got an autistic son" not just "an autistic."
Sorry. That came across so offensively!

Thanks very much. I'll try and prepare hI'm and hopefully be able to mention to the staff when we get to the door.
He's already upset at not being able to take his water bottle or his usual snack and this might tip him over the edge. Just hoping the show makes it worth it for him.

They would have seen any water bottle but I doubt they have noticed a small snack.

We were there on Saturday. Bag search and wand. Quick and friendly

You could always go in via the accessible entrance (next to the Reward door) and they'll be even more gentle.

We went on sunday and it was totally fine. They searched my bag and did the wand over me, then just waved the kids through without looking at all. Didnt search the kids bags or wave the wand over them.
Glad I decided to bring his snacks and drink! I was just going to ask them if we could keep them but didnt even need to as they didnt look.

The staff there are really lovely, I would just tell them. You are allowed to bring in empty water bottles and get them filled at the bar.
