Are you affected by the weather?!

It's WILD out there! I'm in Angus which I think has been hit hard. All the roads in and around our town are flooded. My parents have a river running through their garden which is about to burst its banks but luckily the water will cross over to the fairway rather than to their house.
I sent my 3yr old to nursery but I'll have to collect him at 1pm and I'm dreading taking the baby out in this 🤦
What's it like with you?

very wet, i don't think it's stopped raining since wednesday night. Roads were getting bad last night but a lot of that is because the road gullies are blocked with leaves! I haven't ventured out yet today but there's definitely a reason I live at the top of a hill!

Hooverphobe · 18/11/2022 09:48

I’m in the north isles so we’re just coming out of a storm - today is ok. But there’s been no ferries up from Aberdeen since the beginning of the week so we’ve been a bit cut off.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 18/11/2022 09:48

Haha yes that's good!
It seems like the amber warning is in place today but it was similar yesterday when I think the worst of the flooding happened yet no warning for then! 🤔

Yes very bad round me. Fields flooded, many roads closed and impassable and now the wind is picking up.

Stickykidney · 18/11/2022 11:56

Hey, Angus too and can't get out my drive! I didn't even try the car I can't see the road. From Facebook town looks bad. Wind picking up now app says it's 50kph
Porch and garden flooded. Fire on. No milk... But wine in the house. Don't think I'll be venturing out. As well I'm a day off or I have no idea how I would have got to work the water came up mid Welly then I stopped!

I'm in Angus too. Our road is flooded (luckily our house on a hill so not affected) and other roads in the estate also flooded. The council spent 12 million on flood prevention - here's the result

@hagghaggisaggis that's like round here too! Mad! We ventured out for sweeties and milk and that was an adventure! Not seen the like (newish to the area)

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 18/11/2022 18:35

We have wine in too! Hurray.

Yep it looks bad! I took a wee trip to the beachfront and took a photo of the waves but the photo doesn't do it justice

Looks wild enough!!part of me enjoys the chaos when it's not my house(only my porch is flooded) and part of me feels for the folk flooded in. .
Ended up having a flooded in day in the end

Edinburgh, top floor tenement flat. Kept awake last night by drips in the attic. DP went up into the loft space and reports multiple leaks. We need a new roof 😭😭😭😭

Workerbeep · 18/11/2022 19:39

On no morrisZapp!
Everyone in tenement will have to pay towards it though, or at least we did when we had a ground floor flat.

Tomorrowisanewday · 18/11/2022 20:39

Live in Angus, work in Aberdeen. It's been an interesting day 😩

Oh I bet! I used to commute to Aberdeen and don't miss that journey!

We’re in Aberdeen city, not hugely impacted beyond DS’ activities being cancelled for the weekend. Family and friends in Aberdeenshire are having a nightmare, some areas are completely cut off.

Indoctro · 18/11/2022 20:46

Yes badly affected , roads near us were all cut off today. Someone in nearby village was swept into river trying to rescue their dog at 3pm. Dog has been recovered and didn't make it. No sign of person as yet unfortunately.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy - I was just worried about getting home, given the photographs I'd seen from Laurencekirk and Stracathro. But it had all gone by 8pm, miraculously

Indoctro · 18/11/2022 21:47

@Hungrycaterpillarsmummy very sad, news is saying they have stood down the coast guard for the night. Not looking good. Only a week or so on from the man at Aberdeen who entered the sea to try and save his dog that was spooked by fireworks. He was found but died in hospital. Heartbreaking

The wind is still battering our house, I'm very surprised we haven't lost power yet we normally do.

Oh god that's not good at all. How sad.
Yes I heard of the man trying to save his dog and he died. Do you know if the dog made it last week?

So so sad :(

OP posts:
Indoctro · 18/11/2022 22:20

No the dog wasn't found, or it certainly wasn't reported if it was. So sad .

Open Water gives me the fear, I'm quite cautious around it.
