I see there's a discussion on the main board. I had a look but applying in the middle of A-levels is so different to our system.

Anyway, how's it going for your dc?

My dd is applying for Electrical and Mechanical Engineering at Strathclyde, Cale and Robert Gordon.

Just about finished her personal statement so will be sending off pretty soon.

My son applied to UCAS beginning of October (early entry) for computer science. No news as of yet.....

His Scottish unis are St As, Edinburgh and Glasgow. He's also applied to his outside chance of Cambridge. He's yet to decide on his fifth.

He's taking four advanced highers this year so he's got his work cut out.

He's heard of a couple of offers so far but they are widening participation ones.

Good luck to your DD!

@Aurea , you must be so proud of your son. What are his Advanced Highers?

My dd's school don't do Computing Science. At all.

My dd is doing Advanced Higher Physics and is absolutely loving it. I guess she's found her passion.

Good luck to your boy. It's a shame St A don't do Engineering as I think it would be a good fit for my dd.

Aww thanks Awrite.

He's already taken AH maths (S5) and he's taking mechanics, physics, chemistry and music this year (S6). His school doesn't offer computer science either.

Doesn't St As offer physics? I'm sure I saw that on the list of courses.

Hope all goes to plan for your DD.

With very best wishes 😊

Yeah, you can do Physics there but she loves engineering too. Putting theory into practice.

DD really wanted to do Mechanics of Maths AH but we couldn't find a way to do it. She attends a v small school. Great in many ways but realistically it can't offer the full range of subjects.

Sounds like she's similar to your ds. She's doing Higher chemistry this year so she does love her sciences.

Due to a lack of choice she's picking up crash Highers in RMPS and PE which actually is good for her to widen her range of skills.

It's been a tough few years.
