I haven’t seen a thread on this so far so thought I’d start one.

With just over a week to go until results day, how
is everyone and their young persons feeling? I am getting v anxious- DD needs 3 A’s at AH for her course and is really worried about the maths result. She can’t bear to talk about the 9th.

It doesn’t help that the Scottish priority appeal results aren’t until 5 September and her Uni offer term is that she must have her grades by 31 August- thanks for nothing SQA!

I hope your DD achieves her offer. What course is she applying for?

My DS is in fifth year awaiting results from 4 highers and advanced higher maths. He also needs an A in advanced higher maths (even though he has taken it a year early) to apply for the best computer science courses next year. He's hoping to attend an English uni although he has lived all his life in Scotland.

My DS is totally laid back about everything. I guess the appeals process makes things less stressful as they know their estimated grades??

Economics and history. Appeals procedure would calm me were it not for the Uni saying any they can’t guarantee a place this year if you give them appeal results after 31 Aug. If she misses on 9th, I’m confident her school has robust evidence to get the A on appeal but it may be too late.

Is it for a Scottish uni? If so, I find that strange that they cannot accommodate for appeal dates.

No, it’s English RG.

Ds is waiting for Nat5 results, so not mega important. He's had a mixed year and will get a mixed bag of results I'm sure. He's hoping to get good enough results to take 4 highers next year, he'll be really dumped if he doesn't.

Not at all. Every set of results is important to the person waiting on them. 🤞he gets what he needs.

Do you think it will be as simple as that with the appeals process? My DD really feels 2 of her 5 highers didn't go well.
She was predicted 4A1B - will she definitely be guaranteed these grades if appeals. So if she gets a C in exam can she appeal to get an A if predicted it? It sounds too easy surely? I thought maybe it would be if you were 2/3 marks away from predicted grade you might get it or exceptional circumstances.

My understanding is that it’s all down to evidence when it comes to appeals. If you’ve been getting As in a subject all year as well as your prelims etc done under exam conditions, then I think you have a good chance of the appeal being upheld - that’s certainly the message that came from my DDs school.

@cocopops thank you. That's really puts my mind at rest. She was tested non stop last year. Two sets of prelims under exam conditions.

She had covid and boyfriend dumped her just before her exam week she didn't do well. The dramas. I really hope if is she drops a grade she can appeal.

Hi all my DD is expecting results for 4H and maths N5 resit.

She's hopefully going to college for S6 and only needs a B in Higher English. She's up to 90 worrying about it. She really doesn't want to go back to school so keeping everything crossed!
We have no idea of her predicted grades as she was sick the day the came out, and she completely avoided finding them out!!!
She predicts herself B/C for the highest , but fears a fail in Hbio.
She's hoping for at least a B in the maths resit , as got a C last year..

Fingers crossed that they all get what they need/want..
