Edinburgh Airport Car Parking

Has anyone used the multi storey or terminal car parks for a 2 week stay? The website only mentions them being suitable for short stays, but the long stay car park has no shuttle to the terminal and seems to be a bit of a hike with luggage. The offsite car parks are coming in more expensive than the onsite parking, so wondering what the catch is with the onsite being so much cheaper!

We used the multistorey at the end of June. We were away for 2 weeks and it worked well. Its super close to the airport which was handy as we arrived back at 1am so didn't need to rely on other transport.

Thank you, sounds like it will be ideal then - was just put off by the website only mentioning short stays, but I guess there's no actual restriction.

We used the official Edinburgh airport airpark and it was a bit of a nightmare - drove round for ages to find a spot - just as well we were in plenty of time for our flight so I'd advise against it. I can't comment on the multi storey as the last time we went we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express as it has its own car park just across the road.

I had a look and you can get a quote for 2 weeks at a time so must be ok. It also gets you fast track through security

we've mostly used Secure airport parking as they have always let you park and keep your keys and shuttle buses are very frequent. We'd noticed the one to the side of that (I think it was Scotpark?) used to shuttle the cars about and had them on the verges outside the secure area etc so always avoided that. We flew from Glasgow this time as the official parking was cheaper and we were upgraded to the short stay and that was great as you could just walk straight in and out. I think they were only called short stay as they were so expensive you didn't want to be in any for longer than 24 hours. I guess there is a lot less business travel so not being used so much?

You keep your own keys with the multi storey parking so you just find a space and leave it. We ended up on the top floor!

The terminal and multi-story is relatively more expensive for longer stays, but I agree that removing the shuttle bus service from the long-stay car park has not been a great idea! It's a good walk to the terminal building and I wouldn't want to do it on my own in the dark or in the depths of winter. Your other option is to use the long stay but pay the drop off fee to deposit passengers and luggage outside the terminal then just the driver go and park the car. That might work out cheaper?

CoolAir · 19/07/2022 16:35

Gosh why have Edinburgh airport removed the bus from long stay car park???? It's a bit of a trek with luggage!
Is it because they just haven't had as many travellers since covid to make it worth while?

emmathedilemma · 19/07/2022 19:36

@CoolAir ive no idea, it started during lockdown which I guess you can understand as the airport was like a ghost town but it seems to have stayed as there’s no signs through the new taxi rank to it. I’m not sure they’ve really thought it through as many people will struggle to walk that far with luggage and it used to have a free drop off / pick up option for the shuttle bus and now there’s a definite increase in people doing drop offs and pick ups on double yellow lines and roundabouts, it’s so dangerous! I also don’t think I’d been to walk across the car park in the dark in winter, when I used to park there and would be back late I made a point to park near a bus stop.

Invisimamma · 19/07/2022 20:36

We used fast park a few weeks ago, it was great, you just drive in, leave the car in a lane, drop your keys and 2min walk to the terminal. It also included security fast track. Your car is waiting for you in a bay outside the airport on return. So easy and it wasnt anymore expensive that other options that require a shuttle bus or long walk.

We use terminal surface mostly but DH is great at finding deals for this.

CoolAir · 19/07/2022 21:04

I know the airport is really short staffed.
I expect they laid off all the bus drivers during covid @emmathedilemma
And of course it will suit Edinburgh airport to have more people using the paid drop offHmm

user143677433 · 19/07/2022 21:12

I would go with fast park. Last month I had to drive around for 45 min looking for a space in short stay.

emmathedilemma · 19/07/2022 21:51

I would never use anywhere that involved handing my car keys over!!

Invisimamma · 19/07/2022 23:24

Fast Park is owned and managed by the airport, not some dodgy place where your car will be parked in a random field miles away. Your car is scanned on entering and exit to make sure it arrives and leaves in the same condition. I'd be more worried about bumps and scratches in the multi-story.

emmathedilemma · 20/07/2022 07:25

I know where it is, and I still wouldn’t be leaving my car keys with someone while I went on holiday!
