Care home cost (Scotland)

Is there any easy way to figure out care home cost? I am getting lost with googling.

From what I understand it is different to England, each home has their own fees, and you are self funded if you have more than £29,750.

What’s confusing me is that someone said that even if someone has capital above that limit, there is still help with the nursing part of the care home fee, just not with the residential part?

The personal care cost is covered I believe. Have you contacted Age UK ?

Or try posting on the elderly parents thread making sure you specify you're asking about how it works in Scotland.

If social work department have agreed someone needs care in a card home, then they will pay personal care payment (plus nursing care payment if they need nursing care) regardless of their capital.

This link explains further: www.careinfoscotland.scot/topics/care-homes/paying-care-home-fees/personal-and-nursing-care-in-care-homes/.

Personal care payment can only be made if social work agree to care in a care home - someone who self arranges can't get this payment.
