Student Flat Hunting

Looking at flats for my sons, ie a 2 bed flat, Glasgow west end to Sauchiehall Street area.

Everything seems to be going really fast already. I thought I would ask, is anyone about to relinquish a decent student flat in the area that I could get a heads up on? A long shot, I know! In fact, I realise it would be the agents who would put it up for re-let in most cases, so this is probably pointless, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

Any thoughts welcome.

Does he know anyone in the year above him through his course or mates in halls? A lot of uni flats / houses when I was a student used to be "passed on" through contacts in the years above.

I thought that might have been possible but not many pals had flats last year - so much was done online.

Had 2 viewings so far, another 3 lined up.

Would you consider buying somewhere? It’s what I’m planning to do for mine who intend to go to the same uni a year apart. 8(+) years rent makes me want to boak.

Mine are 3rd and 5th year, so only 2 years to go (hopefully!).

Yes, when we were young, free and (relatively) rich and pre-children we should have bought a flat for this very reason. Sadly, I doubt if we could afford to buy with current prices.

Having done a few viewings so far, there is quite a variety of quality. There are some very grubby not cheap flats out there!

At least it’s not English prices - a pal south is paying £180/week for child at uni! 😲
