Hello mums

I’m exploring moving to Lochwinnoch with my eight-year-old son after the summer and am wondering what the primary school is like? A few years ago it wasn’t getting very good reports on this forum so I’m just checking if that’s changed at all or if there are other good schools in the area. The village and surrounds looks pretty.

Thank you!

I had a friend who lives there and her ds is either going in to P7 or will be moving on to secondary I lose track Blush. She seems to have been very happy with his education - and she is not a person who would stay silent if there were any issues Grin

Seems to be a good wee community Smile

The follow on high schools Johnstone High or St Benedicts are awful. You would be best to put in a placing request elsewhere when the time comes or move to Bridge of Weir nearby

🙄 careful in bridge of weir tho. Massive drug problem in the high school. And pupils lucky enough to be able to afford tutors to help them get such good grades.

Lochwinnoch is a lovely little village. I don't know the primary school but the feeder high school is fine. Yes it has an interesting catchment area but bright children with the right support behind them do well.

I agree with the above. I would however say both my kids to to gryffe and im unaware of any big drug problems.I think its common in all high schools now as cocaine is cheaper than alchohol.

My partner is from Lochwinnoch and we moved back a few years ago. It's absolutely stunning, loads to do and good wee social scene. He went to the primary school as did his siblings and now nephews. They all turned out well. House prices are nuts though there's a waiting list for properties. I've never been happier, bought the house just before the boom 3 years ago, couldn't afford to buy now. Beautiful village!
