What are the covid isolation rules?

Hi, I have just received a test result telling me I am positive for covid. My son is at high school. Can he still go to school if he does not have symptoms?

The text message from test and protect says everyone in my house must self isolate but the most recent letter from school says anyone over 18.

I am also unsure how long I will have to stay off work. I have no symptoms so was not expecting this.

Technically there aren't any rules any more but you are advised to stay at home for 3 days or if you feel unwell. You'd better talk to work to see if they have a specific policy. The text is out of date, I had one telling me I had to self isolate as a close contact but that was only (at the time) if you hadn't been vaccinated.

Thank you for your reply. I was feeling tired this morning and it was very confusing looking for info plus having the out of date text message.

For my work I need to stay home for 5 day and have a negative lft days 6 &7 then I can return. And for school I left them a message and they didn't get back to me so it must have been ok that my son went in. I hope he won't need any time off as they have just been moved into their new classes.

Children have been able to go in with covid in the household for months.

Contacts don't need to isolate at all so he can go to school.

Yeah thanks feel silly I needed to check just hadn't thought about it for along time and suddenly I had to and wanted to check. I am one of these people who always doubts themselves. Wish I didn't have to stay home. I am so bored

And it would be better if the text message had accurate information rather than telling me everyone has to isolate. I think that's what cause the confusion.

Agree- tests and emails with out of date info are not helpful! Cannot understand why they’re not updated! Has been the same for months and adds confusion :(
