I know it a bit (friends live there, I’m in edinburgh)

@museumum Thank you 😊 you might not know if you’re not actually in the area but I’m looking for recommendations for a hair salon near the Carberry area just south of Musselburgh? I’m attending a wedding at the end of this month and we’re staying there the night before the wedding too so would like to be able to go and get my hair done the morning of the wedding if possible!

There is likely somewhere in Musselburgh but I used to live close to Carberry and I used Chapter One in Dalkeith.

Goosey3 · 15/05/2022 19:16

@NoWeaponsOnTheTable Thank you 😊 I wasn’t sure where would be the nearest place to go as I’m not from anywhere near the area 😊 I’ll have a look at places in Dalkeith too 😊

We used to live there and I now live nearby, what do you need to know?

Enidcat5 · 15/05/2022 19:19

Oh just saw your update! I'd recommend Rustic Roots in Dalkeith or similar, but I actually just go into Edinburgh to get mine done. I can send you recommendations if you pm me

Goosey3 · 15/05/2022 19:30

@Enidcat5 Thank you! I think Dalkeith or Musselburgh will probably be easier for us than heading right into the city just with what else we have going on that morning 😊 if you lived in the area though - any recommendations of somewhere for a family dinner the night before would be great if you know anywhere 😊 within a 10/15 min drive of Carberry would be ideal 🤞🏼

If you're able to drive there are some nice restaurants in Musselburgh (eg East Coast or Crollas), or bit further in Portobello. Or if you go into midlothian there's Gigis in Bonnyrigg or Lucis in Lasswade. Both lovely family restaurants. Tbh though you can get into Edinburgh from Carberry in about 15 minutes (20 to centre) so it's totally realistic to go into town for a meal from here and we do it all the time. If you cba though that's understandable Grin

Portobello is lovely, if you've got any time at all head to the beach and promenade. Have a great time!

Enidcat5 · 15/05/2022 20:29

Also if it's carberry tower your wedding is at then it's going to be amazing, I love that place

Goosey3 · 15/05/2022 21:18

@Enidcat5 Thank you for all your suggestions 😊 We have visited central Edinburgh and Portobello a few times and really love it. We’ll have a young baby with us so we were just planning to stick as close to where we’re staying as possible for everything 😊
it is Carberry tower. We’re there for a couple of nights and really looking forward to it. Looks like a beautiful venue!

There's a branch of Medusa in Musselburgh, I go to one of their branches in Edinburgh but haven't ever tried the Musselburgh branch though so can't say what it's like. It will take you 5/10 minutes to drive to Carberry back through Inveresk from there. You'll also get parked in Musselburgh easily.

Goosey3 · 16/05/2022 05:56

@Islafrog Thank you for the recommendation 😊 I’ll have a look just now!

Hello,

I hope you have a lovely time.

I went through Carberry today - as I do weekly - and just wanted to mention the Scottish Water works, there's 3 lots of temporary lights between Carberry and Inveresk including 1 x 4-way at the large roundabout - annoying and expect to be held up for 10 minutes or so each time you go through. I just thought I'd mention it to stop you being potentially late for wedding after hair appointment!

Have an amazing time!

CraftyGin · 25/05/2022 17:47

Carberry Towers is amazing. We have stayed there a few times, and I used to go there a lot as a child.

When we had hair done for a wedding, we went to a salon in Musselburgh - the one opposite the Town Hall.

Williamshatnershorses · 25/05/2022 17:49

Make time to go to Luca’s for ice cream, it’s amazing!
