Can any of you lovely mumsnetters recommend self catering / hotels/ caravan sites which are walking distance to a good beach?

Silver sands at Gairloch

We did Jura last year. Chilly sea but gorgeous with trips to Islay and Colonsay. Rented a really reasonable cottage. It was lovely.

Dornoch Caravan and Camping. Dornoch is a stunning beach and a lovely town.

There are a couple of campsites in Coldingham near Eyemouth. Coldingham bay is lovely

Coldingham Bay has a campsite with wig wams etc

Elie in Fife - shell bay

Absolutely loads especially on the East Coast which has miles upon miles of sandy beaches!
Findhorn is beautiful and has a good vibe, Hopeman also stunning great site with variety of options and a food truck and bar on site, would also second Dornach.

There are absolutely loads so depends on the area that you want. East Coast is cooler then West but no midges on the East!

Silver sands Arisaig- an absolutely magical place.

Nairn Lochloy is right on the beach up there! All along that coast are some really lovely beaches

Silver Sands at Lossiemouth.

Rosemarkie has a caravan park right on the beach. And just around the point (where you see the dolpbins) is the campsite at Fortrose.

Mull has a beautiful campsite just near Fionnphort.

Also along the Moray Firth near Portsoy actually all the way along you'll find campsites and holiday cottages right on the coast.

If you're happy with a Loch, then Loch Ken holiday Park down in Dumfries and Galloway is worth a try but it is inland water not seaside.

Another Dornoch recommendation here, we stayed at the helix pods last year and they were lovely, just right for a long weekend stay. There is a caravan park on the beach though and the beach is beautiful. Some really nice restaurants in the town too.

Mull.

Sango sands at Durness for camping / touring vans or MacKays have some self catering properties in the village.
There's a campsite by Achmelvich beach which is stunning.
There's quite a few sites on the "back road" (the old coast road) between Arisaig and Mallaig.

Grannies Highland Hame in Embo is right on the beach, has a lovely park with sand and is a clean caravan park.

I'd second Mull. Gorgeous beaches.
Skye has some stunning beaches and fab campsites too.

For those who went to Mull, did you go in the school Summer holidays or half term? Did you base yourselves in Tobermory?

Nairn is lovely

On Mull we have stayed on various parts of the island!! Last year we went in August and October (rally week).. We had a day on Iona.

Sandgreen near Gatehouse of Fleet

Nairn lochloy small site but the staff work hard and it has a Lovely beach

Lunan Bay on the East coast between Aberdeen and Dundee, beautiful beach which has holiday lets and a campsite pretty much on the beach.
