Glasgow primary school P1 placing requests

Hi, we put in a placing request for P1 intake, and we still haven't received either a letter from our catchment school or anything about the placing request. The online system just shows the submission, nothing about whether it's been assessed.

Other people we know are being invited to school introduction days very soon, shouldn't these things be sorted by now? Has anyone else heard about notifications for P1 places?

It’s normally around the beginning of June that you’ll hear.

But school visits for other pupils are starting from the beginning of May, why would placing requests be delayed until long after then? There must be a lot of reshuffling after they're decided.

We missed out on the feeder school visits when my dcs had placing requests. They did still get to visit prior to starting school (this was for secondary school)

No nothing has come through. Did it say it would be followed up by letter or just the email?

Will maybe call them on Monday if it's being done by email.

It was just an email it didn't say anything about a letter to follow.

Maybe they are doing it alphabetically by school and they haven't got to yours yet.

Deadline is definitely next week for everyone in Glasgow so shouldn't be too much longer for you but yes I'd call them Monday in case they have the wrong email for you or something

So we never received a placing request email because the council apparently lost it, despite us receiving an online confirmation for it back in January. :-/ School still has places so they're going to sort it out for us, but pretty annoyed that they could have filled up and then we'd have been stuck. Going to write to the education department to see if they can explain what happened!

Glasgow City Council education dept is shambolic. Good that you can get your placing request though even though they are useless!
