Scottish Child Disability Payment

Has anyone who wasn’t already receiving dla successfully managed to claim scdp?

We sent the forms in November and missed the DLA cut off so they sent it over, they keep asking for a reference number and to confirm his identity but we’ve given them all the information and we don’t have a reference. They’ve called for the same confirmation several times and honestly they don’t even seem to know what it is they need. No timescale given on it either now they’re contacting dwp Confused

Doesn’t seem like the systems promising

My understanding of the Scottish system is it is a too up of existing benefits so I you aren't in receipt of DLA you won't receive anything. It's not really helping children it just creates a wider gap between those who qualify for help and those who are on the edge of needing support but don't qualify.

@HappyPumpkin81 it’s a replacement for dla for up here, we can’t apply to dla anymore so wouldn’t know if we’d have received it. The Scottish child payment is a top up to child benefit though so I get why it’s confusing.

We’re hopefully getting a call back tomorrow and might figure out what’s wrong with the claim.

Have you got any support with it? Someone recommended vocal for support with claims - just about to embark on it.

Yes, applied for the new CDP when it opened although didn't get all the docs on for another month (you get 42 days to complete after starting the online application).

We don't have any previous claims so no issue with ref numbers like you describe. I did have to have a video call to prove my identity and then got another call to clarify more details about one of the questions but still waiting to hear.

There is a really useful Facebook group called DLA for children, advice and support. Join and then search for Scotland and there's lots of people already had successful awards with the new system.

You can also use the webchat if you want help.

@anniewaitsforacall we didn’t have a previous claim just the form didn’t go directly there. Thought it’d be in before the cut off but they got sent over by dwp to sss. Hopefully we’re getting somewhere had an advisor say he’d look into it yesterday and hopefully get answers he found our son on a system, the last one literally said they had no idea on what to do. Fingers crossed it’s not long for either of us now.

Hi,
I sent my ds to dwp not sss in December. Dwp hasn't sent his to sss and the dwp is dealing with his claim. Might be worth calling dwp to see if they still have the claim there, the reference might be on any letters you may have got from dwp.
X
