Getting absolutely wild here in the north-east! Lights flickering Sad How's everyone else faring?

OP posts:
Toottooot · 30/01/2022 22:41

Fucking wild NE too.

ElephantOfRisk · 30/01/2022 22:43

Not much in central belt, windy but not too bad. Trains all been cancelled since 6.

Hugasauras · 30/01/2022 22:57

Just had a power cut but went back on. Our fence is away to go Sad

Haudyourwheesht · 30/01/2022 23:01

It was far worse on Friday in Glasgow. Don't think it's going to get much worse tonight.

Hugasauras · 30/01/2022 23:02

This is worse for us here than Storm Arwen was for sure. Our fence has now gone.

Will the trains be running in the morning?

HirplesWithHaggis · 30/01/2022 23:05

Winds getting stronger round my parts. (Ayrshire)

SantasCat · 30/01/2022 23:06

Central Scotland. Lights flickered a few times and very windy but nothing too bad. Stay safe everyone X

Toottooot · 30/01/2022 23:25

Sounds like my windows are going to be blown out - cannot sleep through this.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 30/01/2022 23:26

Same here in Glasgow. Goes from nothing to suddenly like the roof will be blown off - v gusty!
SuperLoudPoppingAction · 30/01/2022 23:29

Still windy here - also NE Scotland. Our bin has fallen over and I'm not going to deal with it just now because I can hear what might be tiles falling.
Part of our roof is stone slabs so when they fall, you don't want to be near them.

Awrite · 30/01/2022 23:30

West coast here, right on the beach. So, so loud. Windows getting blasted, roof tiles rattling. Can't sleep for the noise.

EmmaC78 · 30/01/2022 23:30

On the west coast and am pretty high up and it feels like the roof is taking a battering.

PickAChew · 30/01/2022 23:32

Crossing my fingers for you all. In NE England and most of my neighbours have damage from malik - we have all of one wobbly fence post. So far it's not that noisy, here but we're yet to peak.

PickAChew · 30/01/2022 23:38

OK, I take it back. That gust wobbled the sofa 😬

ExcuseeeeMe · 30/01/2022 23:40

Im in Glasgow and it’s wild

Hugasauras · 30/01/2022 23:46

Solar panels on the house down the road have just blown off into street!

ShinyPikachu · 31/01/2022 00:02

NE Scotland here too and it's so wild right now. We lost our food waste bin in Storm Malik, I can hear our bins blowing around outside but there's no point in going out until the wind has died down, I hope we don't lose any more. Our garden table was blown over by Malik too and I just left it knowing Corrie was on the way so I hope it's fine where it is.

I don't think I'm going to get much sleep tonight as the windows sound like they're going to blow right in.

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 31/01/2022 00:12

NE here. Power seems to be hanging on so far, had loads of flickering though and a brief outage. Our garden gate was blown off during the storm in November so hopefully it's replacement will hold up.

A few neighbours have lost fences/gates already. Sounds horrific outside.

MrsSkylerWhite · 31/01/2022 00:14

We’re in coastal Lancs and it’s already blowing a hoolie here. Thinking of you all further north and keeping everything crossed.

JugglingJanuary · 31/01/2022 00:17

I don't know if its Corrie or not, but I'm near Reading in the SE and it's as windy as fuck.

Hope you're all ok!

Redsquirrel5 · 31/01/2022 00:27

Glad DH is no longer on the rigs.

North West England now and very windy. Storm a few weeks ago brought down four huge trees in our village. I hope there isn’t any more.
I can remember some dreadful storms when we lived in Scotland on the north coast. Hope you all stay safe.
I have never considered solar panels coming off. Pretty dangerous I would think when they are getting blown along the street.

ShinyPikachu · 31/01/2022 08:53

Hope the damage wasn't too bad for everyone.

I struggled to sleep but we don't seem to have lost anything this time. One neighbour has rubbish all over their garden as their bins tipped over and the top has disappeared from another neighbour's trampoline but thankfully that's all I can see here.

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 31/01/2022 09:35

Half the local roads are shut as is dd's preschool. Ds's primary is starting later. Loads of people lost slates/fences/trampolines. Loads of trees down as well.

We seem to be fine albeit very tired.

Yellow85 · 31/01/2022 09:38

Mega blowy for us too. Few road signs etc down, and a lot of trees.

Most of my neighbours also put their bins out last night for collection this morning - so you can imagine what my street looks like today 🙈
