Hi was hoping for some help. Is there anyway to be prescribed HRT without visiting my doctor. Twice he has refused even though i am over 45 and showing symptoms.

Persevere. I'm the same age as you and called to ask gp for a blood test to confirm peri menopause. They said no test was necessary and started me on HRT having checked my blood pressure. Maybe ask for a different doctor?

Definitely ask for an appointment with another Dr. I’m in Scotland and was prescribed HRT after a telephone consultation and providing blood pressure reading from home kit. You shouldn’t have to suffer 💐

I'm in Scotland too - have a look on the Menopause Matters website, there's a good forum on there with great info from other women about their trials, tribulations and triumphs!

Another vote for seeing a different doctor - ask your practice for someone who specialises in women's health. It might also help to start tracking symptoms on the Balance app so you've got plenty evidence of meno/ peri-meno symptoms. Hope you get the right answer next time.

Name changed for this.....

I'm just gone on HRT without having to jump through hoops. I'm 48 with typical pre meno symptoms. I also have a history of breast cancer (low grade non invasive five years ago).

My doctor was happy to put me on HRT with no in person checks. I have a family history of osteoporosis and dementia so she weighed up the risks of these against a higher risk of breast cancer (doesnt elevate risk until age 51 anyway). I also have yearly mammograms due to my history of BC. My blood pressure is historically low.

I've been put on patches and utrogestan which is gold standard (I think).

Keep pushing....

See a different doctor.

We have two at out surgery. I spoke to one of them in October, I am almost 50 and 5 years post hysterectomy. He ordered bloods, said my oestrogen levels were fine, sent me on my way with a recommendation for the Headspace app. Hmm

Second GP I spoke to on the 30th Dec, his approach was that if I was over 45 and having symptoms then it was probably menopause and why don't I try the lowest dose of patches for 3 months and see how I get on?

Totally different approaches. I don't think you will get HRT without a GP, but you can easily see a different GP.
