The festive special!

As always, all railing welcome, along with good things or humorous asides. No resilience wankery. This is the safe place to let out anything that’s doing your head in.

You can’t mandate away hundreds of years worth of Scotsmen who don’t know when to stop!

Haudyourwheesht · 26/12/2021 19:48

My injection site swelled up too, had a massive red lump which has only really cleared today (had jag on Wednesday). No other clear symptoms but I'm blaming the jag for my impromptu Thursday afternoon nap, not the glass of wine I'd had at lunchtime. Grin

Lockdownbear · 26/12/2021 20:00

I got the booster text today. It wasn't so much the injection area that Hury but my lymph nodes in my arm pit has been really sore.
Took me a bit before I figured out what it was, blaming my bra, gaining weight, more sinister stuff before twiging it was the injection. Bazaar

WouldBeGood · 26/12/2021 20:10

Wrong @running sorry

OP posts:
runningpink · 26/12/2021 21:23

@Lockdownbear I’m also suffering with pain in arm pit as well as on my arm.

Lockdownbear · 27/12/2021 01:11

A few other ladies on here have commented on the same thing on other threads. Apparently it's an immune response!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 27/12/2021 07:17

I feel like I'm missing out. No booster text, never got the original blue letters... GrinI'm fully jabbed though, managed to get my booster fairly early-ish when they reduced the gap since the 2nd appointment. I had Moderna for my booster - some swelling around the injection site and it was sore for around a week.

mapleleavesreturn · 27/12/2021 09:53

Anyone else hear the scaremongering about some school year groups going back in Jan and not others?

I hope that turns out to be baseless doomraking!

MarshmallowFondant · 27/12/2021 09:55

Nooooooooooo

Don't start with that shite again.

I have one in S5 who should be prioritised but my poor wee S2 boy has missed his last term of P7, had a very abnormal S1 out of school between Christmas and Easter and even S2 has been fairly abnormal so far.

Just no. No more.

Lidlfix · 27/12/2021 10:22

If the amount of teachers who are isolating next week is anything like this week then there won't be a safe pupil/ teacher ratio.

That said, I don't think that will be the case.

MaxNormal · 27/12/2021 10:34

I'm sorry some of you had a less than wonderful Christmas Day expecially anyone feeling underappreciated, that is hurtful.

Ours was extremely chill as we were only just back but that's the way I like it.

Finally trying to take this vaccine exemption business forward, so I called the covid vaccination status helpline this morning - who didn't know! Poor woman was reading the online FAQs whilst talking to me.

So back to my GP, who have been in possession of the letter from my consultant since October as he cc'd them in, but have not bothered doing anything with it.

I'm not convinced an exemption process actually exists?

RaraRachael · 27/12/2021 10:38

Well the NHS inform isn't very well informed. Having had my booster over a week ago and now self-isolating, I've had a text telling me to make an appointment for my booster. That on top of about 100 emails from presumably some other department on rules and regulations to do with isolation. I know - stay in the fucking house, don't go out anywhere. What is really getting to me is that I can't even go out for a walk. I live in an area where I'd be very unlikely to meet another soul anyway. Annoying the weather has been dry every day of my isolation and the minute I'm liberated it will pish down.

On top of that OH has now been waiting for nearly an hour to speak to 111 for another matter that he's in agony with. There, my railing over for the day hopefully

MaxNormal · 27/12/2021 10:43

RaraRachael sorry to hear about your poor DH, I hope he gets some help soon.

Mistressiggi · 27/12/2021 10:53

I phoned with a query over the booster and I felt really sorry for the man I spoke to as he had so little idea what was going on - I felt his training must have been sorely lacking and he needed a supervisor he could have passed my (slightly complicated) query onto. Sorted it in the end but it was very much like being in the classroom!

WouldBeGood · 27/12/2021 11:11

@MaxNormal glad you had a good Christmas and hope you get the exemption sorted.

@RaraRachael aaargh, sounds rubbish all round

I’m railing against the French government and NS.

I should have been en route (see what I did there) to France at this moment.

And NS has scuppered my alternative plan.

So feeling a bit sorry for myself as my DC are now off to their dad’s til after new year. And no distraction. I can see DP but feel that we’ve spent enough time sitting in doing the same things over the past two years.

OP posts:
MaxNormal · 27/12/2021 11:17

@WouldBeGood how has the alternative plan been scuppered? I've not been following the ins and outs over the last few days. That is totally miserable and frustrating and disappointing for you.

Tbh I don't think an exemption is getting sorted. It's politicians that decide on my medical treatment now apparently, not my highly qualified consultant.

imstilljenny2 · 27/12/2021 11:31

I'm railing against the fact the Scottish isolation rules haven't been changed to those of England's. I have not go into detail as its outing but it's completely ruined our Christmas and looks as if New Year I'll be ruined too. Absolutely gutted.

WouldBeGood · 27/12/2021 11:52

@MaxNormal I’d booked a night in Edinburgh to stay after the races for New Years Day

OP posts:
RaraRachael · 27/12/2021 12:15

Now been waiting an hour and a half for 111 to answer. Our own GP isn't open again till Wednesday. Going mad with their jaunty music playing on a loop Sad

ecceromani · 27/12/2021 12:25

@RaraRachael I did hear on Christmas eve (think was on radio) that there were staff shortages at nhs 24 due to staff illness/isolation.
They were warning people to expect long delays if they needed to contact them over holiday period.
Of course it's particularly bad this year because GP surgeries shut for 4 days

MaxNormal · 27/12/2021 12:33

@RaraRachael have you got any sort of walk in near you? Sorry I'm sure you've probably thought of that too.

RaraRachael · 27/12/2021 12:35

Thanks everyone. We don't have any walk-ins and we are still in isolation till Wednesday. Still, we could be worse off/

WouldBeGood · 27/12/2021 12:40

Can he go to A&E @RaraRachael?

OP posts:
rookiemere · 27/12/2021 12:53

Quel dommage about your non French trip @WouldBeGood .
At this point I'm kind of hoping they keep the Brits ban going until Feb half term so I can finally get the Easyjet flights cost back. They've been changed 6 times so it's quite a tidy amount.

Had a quick look round the sales at the Gyle, nothing of any interest.
Boris should be making some announcement today about any further restrictions in England, I do wonder what he'll do.
