Under 40s Boosters

Anyone know when they’re likely to change the guidance to allow over 30s to book up here? Or any walk-ins doing over 30s in the Edinburgh area? I had first 2 doses in England and am 6 months post 2nd vaccine so keen to get a booster!

DH and I (50s) had ours at mass vax centre at Ingliston a week ago and people in queue were asking about drop in for other family members. They were being told nhs Lothian does not do drop in clinics for booster, must have appointment.

TBH it's probably going to be in new year. I know people in Lothian in mid 40s who's appointments are between Christmas and new year.

Could you travel? Im sure I've seen mentioned on here nhs Lanarkshire are doing drop in for booster. They may give you it since you're over 6 months

NHS Lanarkshire are only doing drop in for boosters for over 50s at the moment. Keep an eye on Facebook for your local health board as that's where they'll advise on drop in sessions.

Form tomorrow, it's on bbc that 30-39 will be able to book from tomorrow

I had mine today in Scotland and I’m 42. You can’t book on the portal and I would suggest that as we weren’t allowed to just walk in and waited an hour in a queue to get ours. We went to Drumchapel as long it was the only place we could book the time we wanted.

There’s not brilliant availability in Lothian just now. My appointment has finally come through (I’m 46) but I can’t go as it is during the school day and I am a teacher. Struggling to get it moved and the first date I could get anywhere in Lothian was the 22nd. No drop ins at all

Aurora791 · 12/12/2021 19:38

Thanks everyone. Apparently they aren’t doing drop ins so it looks like I’ll be waiting a while……

Over 30s can book from tomorrow on the app. Follow your health board on social media, I reckon the booster campaign will mean more drop ins etc. in coming days or weeks across more health boards.

I read on the website that if you've had your flu jag you can't make an appointment yourself. Will this still be the case. I really hope not as I don't have time to sit and wait in a queue in the phone.

Plump82 · 12/12/2021 23:08

I've managed to find an answer to my own question! It's only if the flu jag was done via NHS that you have to call. Mine was done in Boots.

BashfulClam · 13/12/2021 00:56

I was offered the flu booster as well as the covid booster but have already had mine.
