Second that @shouldistop, you’ve done so well.

I’ve been to kettlebells this morning. Unbeknownst to me the class included burpees.. 🤣

shouldistop · 30/12/2021 12:23

@WouldBeGood oh god, burpees make me feel sick!
Nice and relaxing here just now, baby (or should he be toddler) ds is napping and big ds is watching monsters inc.

ElephantOfRisk · 30/12/2021 12:28

My exercise levels are shameful, I need to up that considerably in the new year. It would be helpful if I had a nice holiday to look forward to for motivation. However, just being fitter should be motivation enough to be honest.

Oh I love monsters inc. I think it was one of the first movies that we got on video for DSs to watch. Finding Nemo was their first cinema experience.

Went to the supermarket this morning. It was like it was going to be shut for a week instead of one day. And town traffic was so busy. It was mad. I am now staying at home hiding from the world.

Monsters Inc is great. I need to convince my children of this fact so they watch something other than the new She-Ra.

ElephantOfRisk · 30/12/2021 13:46

I passed Sainsburys on my way to pick up my pie this morning and it looked busy. I briefly contemplated dropping in for petrol on the way back but gave it a miss. I don't use much but I don't like to let it go too low nowadays in case I need to do a big unplanned trip. I'd be passing the petrol station twice a day when I was going to the office to work. Now I'm probably out just once a week picking up my click and collect shopping.

Have you guys seen monsters university? I really like that too.
Dh picked up our steak pie from the butchers earlier. We're having it tomorrow then going to my mums for dinner on the 1st.
What's everyone's plans for the rest of the holidays?
We're meeting up with cousins tomorrow at a brilliant park about a 30 minute drive away so the kids can play.
Think we'll go to mugdock country park on the 1st in the morning.
Dh is going a hill walk on the 2nd with his friend so I'll take the kids to David Lloyd.
3rd we're going to the time capsule Grin
4th we're all going for a hill walk.
Feel tired thinking about it all Grin

ElephantOfRisk · 30/12/2021 18:41

Sounds like a busy time @shouldistop.

I'm planning a long lie tomorrow, I've not been getting to sleep until about 3am ish but I've had various errands and deliveries that have meant I've needed to be up reasonably early so I've run out of steam at various points in the day and fallen asleep, thereby causing me not to be able to get to sleep until 3am....I need to sort out my sleep pattern again.

I've not see monsters university. I think my two might have been teenagers when it came out so I've not had any excuse to watch it.

DH still working tomorrow but he has the weekend and then the 3rd and 4th off. I'm off until the 4th. We'll have a quiet time. We generally go out into the street for the bells and wish all our neighbours a happy new year but no hugging and kissing again this year.

We can watch the fireworks live while you are all watching them on the BBC Grin

Steak pie on the 1st, DH annoyed that the gym is shut while he is off so he'll probably head up a hill at some point. We are planning for a drive and lunch on Monday if decent weather and we can find somewhere nice open for lunch.

Elephant- not sure of opening hours on Monday but Nicks at Port of Menteith might be nice. We had some lovely meals In BofA before the fire. Pleasant drive and nice walks nearby.

He's been a passionate advocate for the hospitality industry in recent times.

Groovee · 30/12/2021 20:36

I'm ready to lose it. Being stuck in with 4 others who ALL should have gone to work yesterday and highly anxious of wonder when I'll get it over if I'll get it.

I've eaten so much cos I am bored.

GrouchyKiwi · 30/12/2021 20:43

That is a busy few days, should!

For Hogmanay we usually have a baked camembert and other lovely things while watching a terrible film. Last year it was Indiana Jones meets Arachnophobia, which was hilarible.

It's DH's birthday on Monday so I have a cake to make on Sunday. Friends are coming to visit on Monday afternoon, which will be lovely as we've not seen them for a couple of years (they live in Ireland).

And then Tuesday will be quiet.

ElephantOfRisk · 30/12/2021 21:04

I agree re Nick H and I'd be happy to support him @lidlfix. I think Dh was hoping to go further as he still hasn't been able to give his new car a really good run. It depends on the weather forecast really as he is envisaging a lovely clear calm winter day I think. Port of Monteith could be a good option for stopping on the way home from a longer route though. I'll check it out.

I was thinking maybe the Clachaig Inn as an option. Not been there in years.

My children are pretending to be boys in their game right now. Apparently this means they should sound vaguely Australian, with terrible accents, and call everyone "Babe".

DH has picked up our steak pies for tomorrow's dinner. I am feeling quite Scottish now. Grin

mapleleavesreturn · 31/12/2021 19:16

Absolutely love clachaig elephant - haven't been since April! Must go back...

ssd · 31/12/2021 22:08

We aren't very traditional. Never have steak pie at new year. We had a chippy earlier.

ssd · 01/01/2022 00:55

Happy new year folks.
Thanks for keeping me company this year x

ElephantOfRisk · 01/01/2022 02:01

Happy new year to all the bletherers and thank you for all your friendship and company.
Much appreciated Smile

shouldistop · 01/01/2022 08:02

Happy new year everyone. Baby ds let me sleep from 11.15pm til 5.15am so that was generous of him. I wonder if this will be the year his sleep will improve Grin
Dh is having a lie in. I'm looking forward to getting out for a walk.

titsintiers · 01/01/2022 08:23

Happy new year to you all, may 2022 be kinder to us all.

TalkedTooMuchStayedTooLong · 01/01/2022 08:26

Happy New Year one and all x

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 01/01/2022 19:04

Happy new year bletherers! Here's to a bit more blethering in 2022.

GrouchyKiwi · 01/01/2022 19:13

Happy New Year, everyone. Thank you for all of your lovely conversation. Flowers

ElephantOfRisk · 01/01/2022 21:53

Does anyone here have any experience of protocol etc for on-line interviews?

DS1 has one in a week or so for a summer internship. He barely speaks to anyone and is socially anxious and has in the past had selective mutism. He has never had an interview or a job before. He has a lot to offer (it's Computer Science) but I'm not expecting him to get this job. I'd love for him to do well enough to make himself more confident for any other interviews.

I want him to feel as relaxed and good about himself as possible but he lives in t-shirts and shorts (and needs a hair/beard cut). Is there an expectation in terms of dress do you think/know? Should he be wearing a shirt but not an office type one? I think work style is a lot more casual nowadays but for a physical interview I'd still expect that he would need to wear something smart but not quite a suit/shirt and tie. On-line I have no clue. He will of course need to make sure that his bedroom looks neat behind him!

ssd · 01/01/2022 22:14

I dont have any experience @ElephantOfRisk but the best of luck to him. He's done great to get an interview.
