@GrouchyKiwi

It's not weird to have a bit of a crush on Dr Zand, is it?
Not weird but why just him and not his brother?!
Haudyourwheesht · 12/12/2021 09:22

That's a bargain. DH bartered our 7.5ft nordman fir down to £65. It's gorgeous though.

prettybird · 12/12/2021 09:43

@Haudyourwheesht - that's why we trek from the Southside over to Milngavie Xmas Grin (last year we had to stretch the definition of "cross boundary" Blush and get our tree on the way over to see my dad, who was in our "bubble" it genuinely is en route and we wore masks.)

Fantastic fresh trees at a great price. Also, because they're cutting them down every four days, they only ever cut as many as they need. And for every one they cut down, two more are planted Xmas Smile We've been going there for so long now that some of the trees we've got will have been planted since we started buying from them Xmas Shock

GrouchyKiwi · 12/12/2021 10:24

prettybird that is a lovely tree.

We've given up on real trees for the time being. The needle dropping annoys me too much.

BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 12/12/2021 10:31

Have you guys listened to the podcast by Chris and Xand? It's so fascinating. Think it's called A Thorough Examination. It gets quite personal, I totoally binged it (and that was without a crush Grin).

prettybird · 12/12/2021 10:43

@GrouchyKiwi - these trees are so fresh that even by 6 January, they've not dropped any needles Xmas Shock I do water it every day though.

But I agree with you about some trees: we have memories of spruces where we were still hoovering up the needles in the summer Xmas Hmm

Haudyourwheesht · 12/12/2021 11:44

I LOVE a real tree. There are a lot of things about Christmas I would ditch before I gave up my tree.

ssd · 12/12/2021 11:53

We always had a real tree growing up but my living room is too narrow for one now. I love my wee tree but i dream of space for a real tree and a big window for it. Its one of the many things I'll never have.

Fair enough. Girls got needs
GrouchyKiwi · 12/12/2021 12:51

Watching the F1 finale. Really hoping for a Lewis win. So nervous!

ElephantOfRisk · 12/12/2021 13:53

I don't like Lewis Hamilton so it's not going well for me!

Bit more interesting now!

GrouchyKiwi · 12/12/2021 15:32

Properly annoyed after the farcical ending of the F1 (for the weird rule breaking, not who won necessarily) so now need to find some chocolate and Josh Groban's Christmas album to cheer me up.

DD1 had a fantastic time at camp, has come home buzzing and so happy. It's lovely.

ssd · 12/12/2021 17:28

Aww, thats great she had a good time....and you've got her back Smile

GrouchyKiwi · 12/12/2021 18:22

She's really keen for the next one, which will be in Summer, I think - hopefully not when we're away!

ssd · 12/12/2021 21:11

Thats great, another milestone ticked!

ElephantOfRisk · 14/12/2021 15:21

My DC always loved camps with scouts :)

Bit of a random question and google has been no help and don't want to put it too public on here in case the person is on.

Okay, so I have a few new colleagues, all seem lovely, probably won't meet them in person for a long while but been on calls/video meetings with them all and exchanged a few emails/messages.

Anyway, one in particular seems really quite a bubbly woman, been utterly lovely and friendly but seems to start a lot of her messages or emails with Rrrr - sometimes 3 Rs sometimes 4. any idea what it means? For context, one said Rrr lovely news, another Rrrr sorry.

GrouchyKiwi · 14/12/2021 15:37

Is it meant to be like "Er"? Or does she think every day is Talk Like A Pirate day?

That's all I've got. Grin

Had to take DD1 for a PCR test today as one of the kids from camp has tested positive.

ElephantOfRisk · 14/12/2021 15:41

Maybe, I shall look for a pirate on her shoulder next video call....

She's from Liverpool if that helps? I might have to ask another of the scousers

OP posts:
ssd · 14/12/2021 17:20

Maybe she does lion impressions Grin

shouldistop · 15/12/2021 10:37

No idea what Rrrr could mean, so weird. I'd just ask, I'd be too curious.
Had to do a test on baby ds as he has an awful cough. It was negative but feel like I can't take him anywhere anyway as people will hate me so we're stuck in.

Lidlfix · 15/12/2021 12:00

My DDs say it's a superlative short for Really, really, really . I won't be adding that to my repertoire of linguistic attempts to sound less like a middle aged wife.

Though we are Stirling not Liverpool so there might be regional variance Grin

ElephantOfRisk · 15/12/2021 12:09

Looking back at the messages, that makes total sense @Lidlfix and likewise I won't be adding it to my repertoire! It fits with what I've observed so far of her personality, bubbly, friendly, kind etc but at least now I get the full tone of her messages. I'd put her in her 30s maybe so not just a young thing, either that or her laptop camera is very kind...

Poor DS @shouldistop, I'd just go out anyway and perfect your Paddington stare
