We had a lovely time in Edinburgh but the hotel is so bloody hot that I've barely slept and have been awake since 7 Sad so much for a lovely lie in. DH still sleeping so I'm sitting in the dark.

Groovee · 11/12/2021 08:01

Morning all.

I just keep chilling these days. Got through yesterday ok. (1st anniversary of my dad passing).

Today is Mr G's b'day. We're off out for breakfast later. Then have various people coming to visit for coffee and cake.

Lidlfix · 11/12/2021 08:20

ThanksGroovee , chilling is good. We are having family over today and I am making slow cooker hot chocolate with Baileys and condensed milk. Ingredients sound amazing, surely I can't stuff up a slow cooker recipe ?

ssd · 11/12/2021 08:44

Im working till 7, just hope the customers are a bit nicer than yesterday, people are angry and taking it out on retail staff, i imagine hospitality is the same. They dont stop to think we're angry too.

@ElephantOfRisk, your hair is lovely, very similar to my friends who is letting it grow in naturally.
@Groovee, have a lovely relaxing time, you both deserve it
@shouldistop, thats a bugger, i hate over hot hotel rooms ,i imagine the window opens like 2 inches as well !!
@Lidlfix, put your slow cooker on low all day it'll be fine.

Have a good day everyone, am currently in sauchiehall street, dark bleak and dreich. Livin the dream Grin

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 11/12/2021 09:43

Sympathies @ssd I used to work in retail - people can be horrible! Especially at Christmas.

The other not too tall blonde I thought of was Reese Witherspoon, maybe legally blonde era?

DH and I are DC free tonight so we were going to have an evening out in Edinburgh and do the market, have cocktails, nice food etc. but I can't be doing with everywhere being booked up forever in advance in the evening so we have decided to cook some nice food together and stay in. Feeling a bit fed up tbh but hoping it helps mean we don't have covid in the house before some nice plans next week. I miss spontaneity when going out somewhere.

titsintiers · 11/12/2021 11:15

I'm pretty pissed off with stuff @ssd but I'd never be rude to someone because they're working in retail. Some people are just dicks

WouldBeGood · 11/12/2021 11:21

I’m always polite to staff in shops and hospitality no matter how fucked off I am with the stupid rules. Not their fault.

Hope your day is blessed with nice customers @ssd

WouldBeGood · 11/12/2021 11:22

*apart from the dick in the post office collection office 😳

shouldistop · 11/12/2021 11:25

I'm always polite to hospitality and shop workers. My mum, however, is mostly rude. I find it so embarrassing going out with her.

ssd · 11/12/2021 15:57

What rude people dont get is, we could help you find that size/colour/game etc etc....but when you are rude we dont bother and tell you we're out of stock. Or take our time at the tills, to piss you off as much as possible, cos we can't say fuck off and go somewhere else.

As for hospitality Shock...i worked in a kitchen 12 years..dont piss off the staff. Everything you imagine happens...

ssd · 11/12/2021 15:58

And nice people we bend over backwards for....

Which you all are of course Grin

WouldBeGood · 11/12/2021 16:05

@ssd 😇😃

WouldBeGood · 11/12/2021 16:05

@ssd were the shops busy today?

Tomorrowisanewday · 11/12/2021 19:15

I've worked in supermarkets and hotels when I was at school / college, and get really annoyed now if customers don't treat people working there with respect

ssd · 11/12/2021 20:57

They were busy but it still doesn't feel like 2 weeks before Christmas

ssd · 11/12/2021 20:58

Spoke to lots of customers who were cancelling staff mights out, hotel rooms, restaurants etc

So bloody sad

WouldBeGood · 11/12/2021 21:35

It is sad

GrouchyKiwi · 11/12/2021 22:19

It is a shame.

GrouchyKiwi · 11/12/2021 22:20

It's not weird to have a bit of a crush on Dr Zand, is it?

ssd · 11/12/2021 22:37

@GrouchyKiwi

It's not weird to have a bit of a crush on Dr Zand, is it?
Who?
GrouchyKiwi · 11/12/2021 22:42

Dr Zand van Tulliken, one of the medical twins who have a TV show (or several; one of which was Operation Ouch).

prettybird · 11/12/2021 22:42

We bought our Christmas tree today Xmas Smile

First one I looked at Xmas Shock: the guy unnetted it, I said it was the right height and bushiness and it was re-netted Xmas Grin Even had time to go to my dad's for coffee, as he was going out to lunch.

£56 for a 9ft freshly cut Nordman fir. We used to hunt for the "right" Christmas tree (as many as 3 days of trips to different places Xmas Sad) but now we just go straight to West of Scotland Rugby Club where the Christmas tree operation there has been working for over 30 years: freshly cut trees and great value Xmas Smile

Lights will go on tomorrow, once it's dark again. We have a tradition of putting them
On and then traipsing out to the other side of the road to check if the lights are evenly distributed Xmas Wink

But never heard of Dr ZandGrin

ElephantOfRisk · 11/12/2021 22:49

Dr Xand van Tulleken - I'd never heard of him but he looks worthy of a crush.
