What a shame shouldistop. Hope your DS is better soon. It's miserable to be stuck at home when you'd rather be out.

DD1's test has come back negative, thankfully.

prettybird · 15/12/2021 17:27

In good news, ds has managed to book himself a booster jag on Friday up in Aberdeen Smile. He got his first two jags quite early as he managed to get his first one at a trial drop-in clinic that I found about via his MP.

He's coming home on Sunday Xmas Smile

Lidlfix · 15/12/2021 18:00

That's good Prettybird, the world always feels right when they're back under your roof. DD4 is heading to a drop in centre tonight to try to get 2nd dose, DD2 has got an appointment for next week. Just hoping DD1 and 3 can manage to get theirs sorted. DH and I are already done in the last week.

ecceromani · 15/12/2021 18:02

My double jagged 18 yr old DC1 came home from uni at the weekend.
Nest is full againSmile

ElephantOfRisk · 15/12/2021 19:04

Neither of my two boosted yet but don't think anyone worrying about it yet. The main reason for having them in the first place was so they could do stuff. DS2 ended up in A&E with heart palpitations and breathing issues after dose 1 but was fine with dose 2.

Hope all the appointments get sorted successfully.

My baby is coming home on Friday and I haven't seen him since August. I hope we all enjoy having our DC back in the nest, I've really missed mine this time even though he is in 3rd year now so I should be used to it.

Ds2 getting booster here soon too, ds1 not sorted yet. Its lovely to hear of all the wee birds coming back to the nests. Though wee means 6 foot in a few cases Grin. And they'll eat us out of house and home. As my dad used to say "I'd rather keep your picture" Grin

ElephantOfRisk · 15/12/2021 21:34

Grin @ssd

I'm just looking forward to filling my wee cherub with enough fruit and veg to last him until Easter. he tells me that they usually buy a bag of apples every week between the two of them and he proudly told me they always finish it Hmm

Other than that i suspect it's only the tomatoes in pasta sauce that count.

OP posts:
ecceromani · 15/12/2021 21:54

Mine is a reasonable cook but I don't think any fruit's been consumed since SeptemberHmm

WouldBeGood · 15/12/2021 22:16

I’m so glad my boy is still young and at home, and I hope he continues to come home for Christmas like you guys’ boys 😊

ElephantOfRisk · 15/12/2021 22:21

Mine has dyspraxia and hyper mobile joints, i can't even look at him trying to butter toast never mind handle sharp knives. However he seems to be doing most of the cooking as his lovely girlfriend is apparently worse than him. He has mastered the making of macaroni cheese and heating stuff up but I'm unclear if his repertoire extends any further.

He is better with veg than Ds1 but his girlfriend only likes carrots or beans neither of which he'll eat so between them I don't think they bother.

DS1 is at home so gets at least 5 fruit a day with the occasional onions and beans for good measure.

OP posts:
prettybird · 15/12/2021 22:24

Mine is also a reasonable cook but only for himself, never cooks with/for his flat mate : likes the Jamie Oliver 5 Ingredients recipe book and says that my best Christmas present to him was the antique Habitat chicken brick (that I managed to find on eBay) so that he can roast his own chickens (I've had one for over 30 years and love it).

He eats a few veg: frozen peas and of course the canned tomatoes that feature in many of his dishes. Not sure how much fruit he has but I know he loves berries, as he devours them when he's down here, so that's usually the dessert I do for him.

Haudyourwheesht · 15/12/2021 22:33

Goodness @ElephantOfRisk - is his girlfriend my 4yo? That's the only veg she will eat! Grin

ElephantOfRisk · 15/12/2021 23:34

I sincerely hope that his girlfriend isn't 4 or we have a bigger issue than his veg refusal and lack of cooking skills!

I have met her, she's definitely older than 4 😂

Mine both love berries too, berries with yogurt is one of ds1's 5 a day and will be DS2's when he gets home.

DS2 likes frozen peas and cold sweetcorn, neither of which Ds1 will eat. I keep thinking they'll get better with age but it's not really happening.

In the meantime it's £2 for a small pack of raspberries and yet only 50p for a cabbage. No wonder my food bills are atrocious.

OP posts:
ecceromani · 16/12/2021 08:23

Mine likes berries but now she does the shopping herself she sees the price of those punnets! So now all fruit seems to be considered a treatHmm
But i think she does have veg most days.
If they have the occasional meal as a flat she is the one who will cook, which I was quite impressed with.
I'm hoping that might carry on at home but not seen any evidence in the 5 days she's been home.
But I suppose being looked after by mum is one of the pleasures of coming homeSmile

ecceromani · 16/12/2021 08:32

And I think she probably considers a can of cider covers her fruit intakeGrin

Haudyourwheesht · 17/12/2021 17:31

I'm planning for a bucket of wine to take care of mine for the next couple of days.

ssd · 17/12/2021 20:39

Home from work now with sore feet.
Talk of social distancing being brought back etc etc. City centre very quiet for a week before xmas. Strange atmosphere all round.

But am home and the fairy lights are on and the house is warm. I can't complain.

ElephantOfRisk · 17/12/2021 20:48

If you go for fruit cider is that 2 of your 5 a day? Grin

Glad you are home and cosy @ssd.

Baby boy is home, been filled with 4 fruit and veg since 5.30pm and now away to meet friends from school. He saved up some washing too!

Just glad to see him and we'll catch up more over the next couple of weeks.

Just had Santa round on his sleigh courtesy of the local round table. It would be more festive if I was sipping a bailies, but I've said I'll pick up boyo later.

Enjoy having all your lovely kids home. Flowers

Mine are very into vegetables & fruit - sometimes they choose fruit over chocolate. All three of them tell me their favourite vegetable is Brussels sprouts. Grin

DH's work night out was cancelled so he's now doing a Zoom quiz. I can't even be bothered to turn on the TV, so I'm sitting here listening to his team answer the questions even though he's in another room.

ElephantOfRisk · 17/12/2021 21:02

A friends work night out in Edinburgh was cancelled but they'd also paid for their hotel rooms and they were non refundable so they were allowed to use them. So she has gone off by herself for an evening in Edinburgh.

I'm sitting watching the new series of Bonus Family but I keep forgetting I don't speak Swedish and turning away from the screen and having to go back to catch what I missed Grin

Hope there is a good prize for the quiz.

What are you all up to this weekend? As always my social life revolves around ds1 Grin We have soft-play with cousins this morning, a play date tomorrow morning and a birthday party in the afternoon.
Ds1 finishes up on Tuesday, I'm looking forward to him being at home for a wee while. I start back at work in January.

ElephantOfRisk · 18/12/2021 08:36

That's what happens when you have DC, their social life takes over, especially now when they've had a big proportion of their lives restricted. I hope he has a lovely time and that the rest of you enjoy it too.

I picked up DS2 not that late but we then stood in the kitchen chatting for a couple of hours and then didn't go to bed until about 2.30am. I then woke at 7 and haven't been able to get back to sleep. I got up to let DH have a long lie as he was shattered this week.

Heading to collect my shopping at 10 and then a bit of tidying, laundry and present wrapping and tomorrow we are out for a lovely family meal.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 18/12/2021 08:45

We were supposed to be away @shouldistop but cancelled because of covid. ☹️ So we're now planning a trip to the cinema, board games and maybe a walk at some point. Not very exciting by comparison. Need to try and get the teenager to engage with us and not spend the weekend hiding in his bedroom again. I know it's what teenagers like to do, but our family social life feels really curtailed so i worry it happens way more than it would do normally.

titsintiers · 18/12/2021 09:17

My night out has been cancelled. But I do have an empty and I'm very much looking forward to DH and DDs being out.
