Glad you had a good day ssd.

I have just realised I haven't got any of DH's Christmas presents yet, even though I know what I'm getting him. Will have to do something about that.

DD1 goes away for her first Cubs' camp tomorrow night (for two nights). It's also the first time she's stayed with anyone other than family. There's meant to be another girl going but she hasn't been at Cubs for the past few weeks so they don't know if she'll turn up. I'm being stupidly anxious about the whole thing - what if something horrible happens because I'm not there to protect her? PFB firsts are awful. Grin

prettybird · 09/12/2021 22:54

You're one step ahead of me @GrouchyKiwi - I don't have a clue what to get anyone let alone bought it Xmas Shock

I had had a vague idea of knitting my dad, dh and ds socks and/or a jumper - but I've left it a bit late to do that how come it's the 9th December already Xmas HmmXmas Confused

I'll need to get my thinking cap on Xmas Blush

ElephantOfRisk · 09/12/2021 23:09

Glad you had a good day out @ssd. You deserved it!

Lots of exciting activities going on now, camps, more trips to Edinburgh, Christmas shopping, we are all getting busy and organised.

I made a bit of progress. I have all my parcels wrapped, packages and postage done and printed so I now just need to take one lot to the PO and the other lot to a drop off place. That just leaves cards for posting but I've decided to do a charity donation apart from a few key people who I don't see/aren't on social media and would be upset or feel forgotten if they didn't get a card.

So, that just leaves presents for DH, DS1 & 2 and DS2s girlfriend.

DH - i either have or have ordered everything for him apart from maybe some chocolate.
DS1 - I have his main gift but not too much else
DS2 - I don't have his main gift but mostly everything else again except some chocolate
GF - I have everything but I keep seeing stuff so have created a wee list for her birthday as I shouldn't buy her anything else.

Also ordered a couple of bits for myself Grin

So, present stuff is getting there, i just need some inspiration for DS1.

Otherwise house is like a coup and no tree up or even space cleared for the tree Sad

Oh and I've ordered a turkey

That is tardy knitting @prettybird. Though I have to say I've still not started knitting the hat I intended to do for DS2 last year. Managed to buy him one this year though Grin

I'd lost my knitting mo-jo and have only finally got it back because I have a knitted secret Santa to do - which I need to post on Tuesday Xmas Blush

It's usually get for me mentally when I'm knitting so at least that's a positive Xmas Smile

My lunch today was lovely - it was fantastic to see this group of women again "in the flesh" - first time since March 2020 Shock

I'd even made a batch of tablet last night and bagged up 10 wee bags of 10 pieces each (one for the restaurant Xmas Wink) which was appreciated Xmas Grin

Booking a lunch/pre-theatre meal for 1.30 works well to escape the 2 hour limit for the table as we only left after 4 Xmas Grin

prettybird · 09/12/2021 23:24

I'm due to go to the Women's Rugby Christmas night out tomorrow night but I'm having cold feet: 30-40 people are due to be going, it will be in a busy pub in the centre of town, involves party games and a lot of alcohol and I've not got my booster jab yet (couldn't get it at the end of a November when I got my flu jag because we'd had Covid at the beginning of November - getting it next week) and because I've had Covid recently, can't do LFTs or PCRs until February Shock. Instead, if dh or I get symptoms, we just have to self-isolate for 10 days Sad. Ditto if we come into contact with anyone who has tested positive. Confused

ssd · 10/12/2021 10:28

Oh, that would put me off too @prettybird. Don't fancy isolating this close to Christmas, us mammies get lumbered with it all (or is it just me)

@ElephantOfRisk, you sound pretty organised to me, you'll be a wee burst and put the tree up in one fell swoop, thats what i did, it was now or never.

I wish you would take orders for your tablet @prettybird, i love tablet..though my waist disagrees....

It sounds like we are all getting on with it, whatever any government says. Dh has his xmas day out tomorrow, he got covid from one last year but we're all jabbed so fingers crossed 🤞

Been invited to a themed party. To dress up as a 'legend' silver screen, small screen, sports etc.
I've no bloody clue! Any ideas.
I don't want to wear a wig, I find them really uncomfortable. I'm 5'4, blonde medium length hair, big boobs. Who could I be?

BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 10/12/2021 18:22

DOLLY PARTON!!

Marilyn?
shouldistop · 10/12/2021 18:32

I thought about Marilyn but I think there will be a lot. Dolly Parton might be a shout.

GrouchyKiwi · 10/12/2021 18:33

Yes to Marilyn or Dolly!

DH has just taken DD1 to her camp. My babies are growing up.

GrouchyKiwi · 10/12/2021 18:34

There's also Doris Day

ElephantOfRisk · 10/12/2021 20:09

I can't say I pictured you as a shortish blond though @shouldistop You were definitely taller and darker in my head Grin

ElephantOfRisk · 10/12/2021 20:10

Oh Britney is a good shout and easy to do/recognise.

shouldistop · 10/12/2021 20:18

Ha I would love to be tall and dark !

ElephantOfRisk · 10/12/2021 20:42

You are not short short, just shorter than I thought - it's weird how we imagine what people on here look like :) Being blond is definitely an advantage when you start going grey though you are just a young thing.

OP posts:
shouldistop · 10/12/2021 21:03

Yep, no greys yet Grin or I can't see them anyway whereas some of my darker friends the same age have them. Dh is very dark and has lots of greys.

ElephantOfRisk · 10/12/2021 21:07

Men get away with being distinguished! I was a blond child, a mousey teenager (though I had every versions of colours under the sun) and a dark adult. I embraced the grey quite a few years ago but I went for a set of blond highlights to transition and I don't regret it. Well other than I keep forgetting and buying lovely grey jumpers and then realising it's too much.

ssd · 10/12/2021 22:39

Ive got a grey at my temples but so far just a few strands elsewhere

A friend is going grey naturally and her hair is gorgeous, streaks of light grey with dark blonde ,light brown underneath
