Good the hear I'm not such a heathen after all Grin

Enjoy your days/nights out @ElephantOfRisk @prettybird

We're off to Edinburgh soon to get ripped off on lukewarm mulled wine and a wander around.

WouldBeGood · 08/12/2021 16:06

Enjoy @ssd!

GrouchyKiwi · 08/12/2021 16:49

French toast is best sweet, with cinnamon.

Have a good time getting sozzled ssd! Grin

The hall meeting was excellent and chaotic and I am shattered. Had to drive home via the Sherriffhall Roundabout, which is the WORST and I am still stressed about it. I avoided it on the way out but returning home always goes wrong.

prettybird · 08/12/2021 16:51

Cinnamon, mmmmmm Smile, now you're talking! Grin

ElephantOfRisk · 08/12/2021 17:04

Sherriffhall is mental. Are there not plans to run part of it under as a tunnel? I honestly think that just shutting your eyes and pressing on the accelerator is how most people deal with it.

And you lot with your sweet French toast! It's brave of you to show your faces! Grin

Wrong thread but what the hell

BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 08/12/2021 21:05

Emergency wine is appropriate on any Scotsnet thread I think Grin

ecceromani · 08/12/2021 21:13

Ooh I love a wee emergency wineWine

Tomorrowisanewday · 08/12/2021 21:46

ssd · 08/12/2021 22:13

Has anyone been on the tram into Edinburgh from ingleston, any tips?

ElephantOfRisk · 08/12/2021 22:22

I've caught it from the airport or from further into Edinburgh. It's pretty straight forward but remember you need to buy a ticket before you board. When is it you are going in to Edinburgh?

OP posts:
ssd · 08/12/2021 22:23

Tomorrow. Where do we buy the ticket? And how was your night out?

titsintiers · 08/12/2021 22:28

There are ticket machines on the platform, trans v regular. Enjoy!!

titsintiers · 08/12/2021 22:29

Trans is a whole new thread.

Teams are very regular

ssd · 08/12/2021 22:34

Trams even Grin

ElephantOfRisk · 08/12/2021 22:39

Thanks @ssd, night out was fine, lovely meal and caught the fast train both ways so was home before 10.15.

And as everyone said, tickets via machine on platform and trams are frequent but you don't half get pee'd off if there is a queue at the machine and you miss a tram - or maybe that's just me. Grin We used to park at my Mum's and get the tram from there but it's not the best of areas so I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to non locals and as my mum's passed away, you couldn't exactly just park at hers.

Hope you have a lovely day out.

Thanks, glad your night went well too.

ElephantOfRisk · 08/12/2021 22:44

It was nice catching up with people, restaurant was really really quiet. It's such a shame. I know it's a Wednesday night, but this close to Christmas you'd have thought they would have more than just a few tables filled.

OP posts:
ssd · 08/12/2021 23:02

That is a shame, I'd expect places to be jumping just now.

ssd · 08/12/2021 23:03

Is there anywhere youd recommend for a nice sandwich or toastie in Edinburgh, like near the centre?

ElephantOfRisk · 08/12/2021 23:17

There were some lovely looking vans selling stuff out the side door of the St James centre, the one that comes down the lane at the side of the cathedral (Little King Street). We didn't have anything but they smelled gorgeous.

I really like the Southern Cross cafe at the top of Cockburn street but we aren't in Edinburgh that often anymore and I've only been 2 or 3 times since lockdown.

This place up a lane at the East end of Princes street seems to have a really good rating and is a proper cafe type place:

We've had sushi and macaroni from the wee vans outside St James but there's nowhere warm to sit and eat. Is Bross Bagels open there yet? They are a treat. It wasn't open last time we were there but it might be now
