Bars/restaurants in central Glasgow for a good night out? (Not ones for young things!)

Rare night/day out in Glasgow this weekend, with close friends who I don't see often. Would like to have a lovely time - nice bar, bit of character, maybe interesting decor?
We are all middle aged (pains me to type this) so looking for places with seats where we can chat all night rather than standing around a bar.
Before I go into the rabbit-warren of trip advisor, does anyone have a recommendation? Thank you!

I like Browns, George Square. Obviously it's a chain but this particular one is bright and airy even in the evening. Downside is it's downstairs to use the loos.

I do like Browns, might try that one. Not keen on anywhere too crowded/standing room only at the moment

The Anchor Line is nice and good cocktails, grown up vibe

We went to Sylvan for lunch, it was really lovely, thanks @mummywithtwokidsplusdog for the suggestion.
