Moving to the Borders

We’re looking to relocate form Southern England up to the Borders, ideally to Peebles but struggling to find somewhere to rent or buy.. does anyone have any thoughts on Peebles /Innerleithen/Cardrona? Pros and Cons
I’ve got two kids, one primary and one secondary aged. We’re an outdoorsy family and would love to move to a friendly community with good access to clubs for the kids.
We’ve heard that the schools are good and it seems genuinely friendly with good access for biking and walking whilst not being too remote.
Should we hold out for Peebles or is Innerleithen or Cardrona a good option too?
Thank you!

Peebles or Innerleithen, I can't think that there is much at Cardrona though it is a lovely spot.

Cardrona always strikes me as a bit 'Stepford'. I think it's probably because there's nothing there except a housing estate and a soulless hotel.

Innerleithen - great for outdoorsy stuff, not much in the way of restaurants or shops/supermarkets.

Peebles is nice, close enough to Edinburgh for a day out but definitely feels countrified.
