I'm not saying it wasn't here before by the way, just saying that's the bit that bothers me with it.

ssd · 16/11/2021 20:01

Im sure it was too. It'll all come out in the wash, someday. I also believe this hellish flu going round is a cousin of covid.

ssd · 16/11/2021 20:02

Thats true as well @ElephantOfRisk

I wonder if there’s something with the PCR, and not initially testing positive. But it’s just a wondering.

@Lockdownbear

I was chatting to someone who works at Grangemouth. A section has some Chinese workers, someone around October / November 19, the Chinese were starting to wear face masks. They queried "Why the face masks" and were told "because of a germ"

I'm convinced Covid was circulating long before the Chinese confessed to it.

I agree. A family friend of DH was in Wuhan November 2019 and they had their temperature taken before boarding flight back to the UK.

@Scottishskifun Reporting back after my vaccine today. So i'm exactly 23 weeks 1 day post 2nd and it wasn't a problem at all - BUT - that might be because I'd booked through the test & trace app so the receptionist wrote my details down as I went in. So I can't say for sure if a more joined up system (electronically I mean) might have booted me out. The queue was pretty long - and it was cold/drizzly out, so I'm very glad I wasn't turned away.

Aurea · 17/11/2021 15:43

Does anyone know if any centres are also offering AZ for the booster or is it just Pfizer? How would I find out?

Scottishskifun · 17/11/2021 15:48

@LizzieMacQueen thanks I'm hopeful that 22 weeks will be OK as their guidance says that it can be given on this date!
Ironically when I went for a flu jab they also asked me about my covid one so hopefully it will be OK as it's a small local centre!

Scottishskifun · 17/11/2021 15:57

@Aurea

They should do as some people are allergic to Pfizer ingredients, the booster is Pfizer but they can do it with AZ if allergic etc.
Aurea · 17/11/2021 16:02

Oh good! Thanks! I need the AZ or at least I was given it the first time in spite of my age due to allergies.

I don't know how to check though although I only had my second one in august so I'm not due for a while.

Scottishskifun · 17/11/2021 16:28

@aurea I think they will stock it the below is from the NHS inform website on boosters and AZ isn't difficult to store 😊 depending on your vaccination centre you might be able to ask! Ours is a local drop in place though!

"You will be offered a booster dose of either Pfizer/BioNTech or Moderna vaccine. AstraZeneca may be given as your booster dose if you have medical reasons that mean you cannot have Pfizer/BioNTech or Moderna."

Aurea · 17/11/2021 16:30

That's kind of you to check for me. Thanks!

Away to see family on a train ATM approaching Kings X with NO MASKS!!!!!!!! Yay!!!!!!

Aurea · 17/11/2021 17:18

Less than half of people with masks on tube although it's advisory.

Trains really quiet for rush hour. No one sitting near me at all.

runningpink · 18/11/2021 06:46

I had the most awful dream/nightmare that we had been put into lockdown again.

Just hope this doesn’t end up being reality

Beepbeeprichie · 18/11/2021 08:36

My rail of the day….
I can’t see my children’s Christmas shows but my husband can go to Hampden and COP26 people can swan around without any masks?! My son’s face when he found out he would only be performing to the school and we wouldn’t be there Sad

I. Am. Over. This.

WouldBeGood · 18/11/2021 08:36

Oh no, @runningpink! That’s shite.

OP posts:
Tiredoftiers · 18/11/2021 08:45

Yip we’re the same @runningpink.
So many of the restrictions feel completely disproportionate, unfair and unnecessary.
Our school hall is quite small. Imagine the excitement from the children if they had their nativity in the town hall! My child has only left the school grounds once since starting in 2019 and that was to pick up litter Hmm

WouldBeGood · 18/11/2021 08:51

Oh, that’s so sad about the school Christmas shows. They are so heartwarming and it was always a high point of my year to watch them. And it’s such a good experience for them.

What are we doing to our children in the name of “staying safe”?

I've been thinking that too. When DD first started nursery the 'big kids' were out on wee trips all the time: to museums, to Morrisons, the library, the local care home, and now nothing. She's been on one nursery trip in 4 years, pre covid, obviously.
Haudyourwheesht · 18/11/2021 09:38

I've just seen that the Wizard of Oz panto at the Hydro has been cancelled. I wonder why? That's a big show. Do they know something that we don't?

I’m so sorry @Beepbeeprichie it’s really awful for the children isn’t it? We’re the same here, they happily announced a school trip (local, only just leaving school premises it was that close) and cancelled following further guidance from the council. I know from close friends who are teachers, it’s so frustrating for them too. It’s council guidance apparently that also requires teachers and staff of our primary school to stand in the playground outside with masks on to greet the children and again at the end of the day. Utterly depressing when you see crowds at sport outside and even track & trace don’t even count outside contacts anymore.

Lockdownbear · 18/11/2021 09:49

It's shite about kids Christmas shows.

It just shows once again £££ is the root off all decisions.

Kids shows and school accembeys (spelling sorry) don't make money, so aren't allowed.
Can take a school to a panto with 3 other schools but can't have an accembaly in the hall.

Lockdownbear · 18/11/2021 09:51

All is forgiven with my dentist who forgot to put though my referral, referral put through, a cancellation appointment was found, wisdom tooth removed yesterday!

ResilienceWanker · 18/11/2021 09:55

I agree... It's ridiculous that there are such restrictions still in place at schools, but not in the rest of society.

Yes, cases are currently highest in schools, so though the restrictions aren't doing anything to stop the spread within the school, maybe they're trying to stop it spreading outside as well, by bringing lots of external people in? Though children are well known for keeping themselves to themselves outside of school, and not coming close to the rest of their family, or other adults at out of school activities or play dates or anything... Confused

It seems so disproportionate to weight the increased risk of spread (amongst parents who don't mind exposing themselves to the germ soup in a sweaty school hall to listen to the P3 recorder consort murder jingle bells) against the benefit to the kids and pleasure to the parents of that kind of thing. When those same parents and children could also choose to expose themselves to similar germs at a theatre or concert (albeit, with higher production values) with no problems.

OnceUponAWhine · 18/11/2021 09:57

Are your children going on a coach to a panto @Lockdownbear ?
In addition to no trips, even local, we have no assemblies, literally nothing that involves parents crossing onto school premises, masked up staff in playground. A coach to the panto to sit with other schools feels a VERY long way offSad Is it just our LA who are being this restrictive?
