Glasgow schools placing request form

Does anyone have experience of making a placing request without having one of the reasons listed on the form? Ie no ASN, no religious ethos, no silbings, family circumstances? Ie if you want to make a placing request for a school becuase you think it's a better school? The form states I need to tick at least one of the above options, but I know lots of people make placing requests simply becase they feel it suits their child better, has better facilities, teaching or something similar. How have you approached this?

I would put down family circumstances.
You feel the out of catchment school would meet you child’s social and emotional needs better than the catchment school.
I’m sure you are aware that even if you don’t initially get offered a place there is a lot of movement both over the summer and in the first few terms so keep on the waiting list and call the school regularly to find out about place on the list.

We used placing requests for dc going to the Gaelic school. I think we put family circs down, as dd1 had got a place in p2 when we moved to Glasgow and we wanted them to all go to the same school.

Good luck!

Don't know if the form has changed (over 10 years since I put in the placing request for ds) but I think if I'd had to tick one of those options, it would've been "family circumstances".

The reason I put down was that Shawlands was becoming a School of Rugby and that we wanted him to go to a school where they played rugby (and that most of his friends from the rugby club were going to) and that it was still within walking distance of where we live. He got his placing request - but as I understood it, all placing request at that time got in to Shawlands and that reasons such as mine were not even looked at.
