The Transvaginal Mesh Removal Bill seeks to refund individuals who paid for private surgery to remove transvaginal mesh from their body. It is to include the costs of removal surgery and reasonable connected expenses.
The call for views will close on 13 October 2021.
The Committee is keen to hear views on the Bill and on the following questions:
-
Do you support the aims of the Bill?
-
Would you like to see any changes to the Bill? If so, what?
-
Can you see any issues with implementation of the Bill or the way the costs will be reimbursed?
-
Does the Bill adequately address how reimbursement will be administered? Does it take account of how finance to pay for treatment was raised (for example, via ‘crowdfunding’)?
-
Do you think that the costs as set in the Financial Memorandum are a reasonable estimate?
-
Do you have any other comments on the provisions set out in the Bill?
Individuals who have been affected by transvaginal mesh in Scotland will be able to provide additional, confidential information to the Committee if they wish to do so.
